Dr. Off Limits by Louise Bay: Sutton only agrees to the blind date because her suitor is supposed to be going to Africa the next day. She also only sleeps with him for the same reason even though the conversation flowed between them all night and the sparks were flying as well. She’s shocked when she shows up for her first day as a foundation doctor to find out that he is one of her new bosses. She hopes that she can steer clear of him to avoid the temptation, but her body is so in tune with where he is and what he’s doing that she can’t keep her mind off him. She worked too hard to get where she is now, and she doesn’t want to throw it away by hooking up with her boss even though she thinks it could be more.
Jacob has one rule in his job: do not hook up with anyone in the hospital. It has been engrained since he was young by his father. After his date with Sutton, he can’t get her out of his mind and is shocked to see her again with the group of new hires at the hospital he works at. He decides to keep his distance from her, but he finds he’s even more drawn to her when he sees her work. He’s impressed by the way she carries herself and finds cracks in his plan.
When the two finally give in to their emotions, they find they don’t want to stop. As Sutton struggles with whether the relationship will impact her job at the hospital, Jacob is struggling with whether it will impact his potential for a promotion. They have to decide whether the risk is worth their happiness i the long run.
Sutton was used to hard times since she was young. She overcame a lot to get the position she did. After being on her own for so long, she has walls up to the connection with Jacob, so she must learn how to let him into her heart. By the end of the book, she has transformed to have so much more confidence than she had previously.
Jacob grew up just wanting to live up to his family’s name. As he grew up, he did everything to make his family proud. He found himself focusing on that more than anything which makes it more understandable that he’s thrown by his feelings for Sutton. Through his relationship with Sutton, he understands true companionship and yearns to deepen their love.
Overall, the book was so good! I loved the interactions and banter between Jacob and Sutton. The surrounding cast of characters was also good but I felt there may have been a few that were unnecessary. I think, if the series spreads out to focus on the others, it makes sense to include all of them but it made it hard to follow some of the character progress. Other than that, it was such a cute read and I loved it!

Dr. Off Limits? I have a fever and I think you might be the medicine I need.
I’ve sworn off men to focus on my dream job that starts on Monday. But my best friend talks me into a final night of fun—a blind date.
I only agree because the guy is going to work as a doctor in Africa.
It’s the best date of my life. Dr. Africa makes me laugh and swoon and I want to give him a thorough physical examination.
He turns into Dr. One Night Stand, and I’m not sad about it.
Monday morning, I’m enthusiastic and excited, until I bump into . . . you guessed it.
Apparently Dr. Africa got his brother to fill in on our date, and now I work at the same hospital as the guy I got naked with on Saturday.
Did I mention he’s my new boss?
I need to go right to the Emergency Room and find a cure for my crush on Dr. Off Limits.
