Expecting Her Ex’s Baby by Shannon Stacey: Evie Sutton and Lane Thompson divorced ten years ago. She moved away from him and her family’s business, Sutton’s Place Brewery and Tavern. She has come home intermittently over the years. The last time she was home several months ago, she made the mistake of sleeping with her ex. Now she is pregnant from that time and has come home to have the support of her family.
When Lane finds out she is pregnant with his baby, he is shocked, but wants to be part of the child’s life. Evie wants to leave after having the baby and doesn’t expect anything from him. They have quite a few fights over what the future will look like.
Lane is also upset that she is still working hard in the family business, which makes Evie even more angry. She loves her family and wants to do her share even if she doesn’t decide to stay in the town of Stonefield, New Hampshire.
It’s easy to see how both characters are very strong-willed. That partially led to their split all those years ago. At the same time the author shows the reader that second chances are possible in even difficult circumstances.
The book has a good bit of atmosphere and family dynamics. Even with all the drama, some humor is blended into the mix. Each chapter starts with a folksy blurb from the local newspaper, the Stonefield Gazette.
This novel is the third in a series, but I had no trouble following it as standalone. Shannon Stacey is a new to new author. I look forward to reading more of her stories.

Her Blackberry Bay trilogy is fun. For longer books, her Kowalski series, Boys of Fall trilogy, and Boston Fire series are favorites of mine. She also has a number of great novellas.
