REVIEW: Guarding Sophie by Julie Brannagh

Guarding Sophie (Love and Football #5.5) by Julie Brannagh: I have to admit that I have not read any of the other books in this amazing series, but that did not hold me back, slow me down or leave me lost. This sweet heartwarming novella is a second chance for the football star to finally get his girl. This is the story of Kyle and Sophie.

Kyle Carlson was the high school football hero, he is now a professional football player who is taken advantage of by his family and friends who are always looking for a handout. Selling his home and moving to Noel, Washington to hide out, he never expected to run into the one girl that slipped through his fingers, the girl that he waited too long to ask out and she got away, Sophie Hayes.

Sophie Hayes has run away from her family, her friends, and here job in order to protect everyone that she loved from the abusive boyfriend who beat her and left her for dead. Thinking that she would have safety in the little Christmas town of Noel, she is shocked to see Kyle again.

Knowing that Sophie should keep her distance in order to protect Kyle she can’t help but be drawn to the handsome man that she has always had a crush on. When an ex bent on revenge come knocking, Kyle will stop at nothing to make sure that Sophie is protected at all cost.

I loved the dynamic between Sophie and Kyle. They had an instant chemistry, friendship and attraction that made it easy to fall for them. I loved that Kyle’s friends and team mates stepped up and offered support and friendship to both Kyle and Sophie when they needed it most. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and going back and reading the past books in this series, because although this book can be read stand alone, I would love to know more about the wonderful characters in this series.
