In His Seduction Game Plan by Katherine Garbera, ex-pro football player Hunter Caruthers is looking for answers. Ten years earlier in college, he and his best friend, Kingsley had been arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, Stacia. They were eventually released and never formally charged, but the case was never solved and Hunter wants answers. Determined to get them, he goes to visit his old college football coach, Coach Gainer, in order to get video footage from the locker room for that night. Arriving at his house, he meets Ferrin, the coach’s daughter.
Ferrin hates everything to do with football. She always felt like she was never good enough for her father because she couldn’t play the sport and she didn’t like it. The two were never close but she returned to take care of him after he suffered a stroke. When Hunter shows up, she’s conflicted. She wants to help Hunter, but she also wants to respect her father’s wishes that he doesn’t go through his files.
Ferrin’s back and forth about whether or not to help Hunter with the files was grating. I couldn’t understand why she was so set on honoring her father’s wishes when the man clearly never made time for her when she was growing up. They weren’t close so she didn’t owe him that kind of loyalty. She grew to care for Hunter and knew how important it was to him to finally clear his name once and for all, yet she wouldn’t do it. She pretty much tells him she’ll only agree to consider to help him if he goes out with her, and she didn’t even feel bad about it. I didn’t like her character at all. At least with Hunter, once he decided he was going to try to seduce Ferrin to get her to help him, he felt guilty about it.
While this is book number four in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the previous books in the series but had no problem following along with the characters and story line.
As much as I wanted to like the book, Ferrin really brought it down. Then, once it finally started moving towards the discovery of the true murderer, it was pretty obvious who the culprit was. While the premise was good, the execution of the story just didn’t work for me.

It was so-so for me, but I’m sure there are people who will enjoy it more than I did.

I hope you like it. I liked Hunter but wasn’t crazy about Ferrin.
