In Indigo Ridge (The Edens #1) by Devney Perry, As a police officer, Winslow Covington has seen a lot of things–some of which she’d prefer to forget. But as the new chief of police in Quincy, Montana, she’s up against too many battles to keep track. She’s considered an outsider to long-time residents, even though she’s visited numerous times where her grandfather has lived in town for decades and is the current mayor. The fact that Winslow is a woman around thirty years of age isn’t a point in her favor either. The final nail in her coffin? She unknowingly slept with a member of the town’s founding family: Griffin Eden, her first night in Quincy.
‘I’d learned in my time as a cop that sometimes it wasn’t about choosing right from wrong. It was choosing the *right* wrongs.
Griffin. Tonight, I chose Griffin.’
Neither Winslow nor Griffin are happy when they realize who they are to each other. Or how complicated their one-night stand could prove to be. But trying to stay in their respective parts of town go by the wayside when Winslow has to investigate what appears to be a suicide on Griffin’s property. She’s not convinced the young woman jumped off Juniper Ridge. But everyone’s telling her to let it go. Griffin soon learns that Winslow isn’t a woman to be deterred. Whether it’s in an investigation or in her private life. Which suits the rancher just fine because he’s pretty sure he’s met his match in her. And he wouldn’t want her any other way.
“Your family is incredible. You’re lucky to have them.”
“I am.” I nodded. “They’ve claimed you now.”
She locked her eyes with mine. “Have they? And what about you?”
“Oh, I claimed you a long time ago.” The night I’d met her at Willie’s.
A book that kept me on the edge of my seat with the thrilling suspense and sighing oh so happily over the steamy romance, Indigo Ridge was everything I was hoping for in Devney Perry’s newest series.
‘If she wanted to pretend it hadn’t happened, that was fine by me. No one in Quincy needed to know I’d given the chief of police three orgasms.’
The Edens series is off to a wonderful start. But what else would we expect from Devney Perry, right? It had the small-town vibe I love in her writing with the gossipy, nosy neighbors butting in–and family drama is a given. Of course we had characters you’d want to be friends with in real life: Winslow, Griffin, and the rest of the awesome Eden clan. But it was the thread of suspense that really wowed me and had me absolutely flying through the pages to see whodunit. And I was headed in the right direction…until Perry threw in a twist I didn’t see coming.
What a pair Griffin and Winslow made. If you love a grumbly hero with a good heart as much as I do then you’ll fall for hunky cowboy Griffin right away. He was the oldest of the Eden siblings and was the one everyone turned to when they needed a strong shoulder. I loved that he was protective overall, but Griff tried to give his siblings–and Winslow–room to make their own decisions and take care of themselves. He owned up to his mistakes and any miscommunication that happened right away as well. And all of that made Griffin the perfect hero in my humble opinion.
Winslow. Boy she was fun! A cop who had been through unimaginable tragedy, she was so very kindhearted and loyal–but she was tough as nails when the situation called for it. Including when it came to Griffin. Winn didn’t let him get away with *anything*. lol And I had to admire her tenacity, not only in her new job as chief of police, trying to solve the death of a local young woman, but in pursuing her feelings for Griff. It was all kinds of messy, what they had to work through, but I think readers will adore the way everything comes together at the end for Winslow and Griffin..and with the lead in for book two.
QOTD: Indigo Ridge starts off as an enemies-to-lovers romance. Are you a fan of the trope? Have any favorite books with this theme?

From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance.
Winslow Covington believes in life, liberty and the letter of the law. As Quincy, Montana’s new chief of police, she’s determined to prove herself to the community and show them she didn’t earn her position because her grandfather is the mayor.
According to her pops, all she has to do is earn favor with the Edens. But winning over the town’s founding family might have been easier if not for her one-night stand with their oldest son. In her defense, it was her first night in town and she didn’t realize that the rugged and charming man who wooed her into bed was Quincy royalty.
Sleeping with Griffin Eden was a huge mistake, one she’s trying to forget. He’s insufferable, arrogant and keeps reminding everyone that she’s an outsider. Winslow does her best to avoid Griffin, but when a woman is found dead on Eden property, the two of them have no choice but to cross paths.
As clues to the murderer lead to one of Quincy’s own, Griffin realizes Winslow is more than he gave her credit for. Beautiful and intelligent, she proves hard to resist. For him. And the killer.

Great review! You hit every point. I don’t usually care for the enemies-to-lovers trope, but this one was fantastic! Although really, after the way they met, was it *really* enemies-to-lovers? lol. It’s the perfect start to a new series and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Thank you so much! Glad you loved this one too! Sounds like we were similar in what we liked about it. 🙂 I know…the whole enemies-to-lovers thing. I waffled on mentioning it but it was such a fun–albeit, brief–part of their story after their one-night stand, seeing that friction between them.lol Happy Reading!!

I am very curious to see how this author will handle the enemies to lovers trope in this book here. Sounds very interesting here.

Devney Perry did the trope justice in my humble opinion. 🙂 It was a fairly quick transition from enemies to lovers, though…so it didn’t carry on throughout the book for too long. It’s a solid story so hopefully you enjoy if you pick this one up!
