Love On My Mind by Tracey Livesay finds PR executive Chelsea Grant In a difficult situation; she’s hired by Michael Black, COO of Computronix to work with the company’s CEO, Adam Bennett, in advance of their latest product release, only Mike doesn’t want Adam to know he hired her. If she can get him through the product launch, she’ll earn the promotion to partner that she’s been striving for.
Adam didn’t like dealing with the public. Having Asperger’s Syndrome, he has difficulty relating to people, which is why he preferred working on his products from his own home.
“In the time you’ve spent together, she hasn’t noticed your literalness, your difficulty deciphering social cues, and your rigid adherence to routines?”
“They’ve manifested, but she attributes them to my being an asshole.”
Mike laughed. “The two aren’t mutually exclusive.”
Adam’s biggest peeve is lying. He believes that everyone should always tell the truth. Chelsea could relate; she always told her clients the truth, so she hated having to lie to Adam about why she was really there.
I liked how Chelsea was able to accept Adam the way he was, quirks and all. She never judged him for being socially awkward, even before she learned that he had Asperger’s. I also enjoyed that Adam was able to loosen up a little bit with Chelsea and that he learned not to spend all his time focusing on his work.
Adam is a different type of character than what readers generally find in books, and I found it to be an interesting and refreshing change. I would recommend giving Love On My Mind a read.
