In Mixing Temptation by Sara Jane Stone, Caroline Andrews and Josh Summers get their chance at a happy ending, even though it looked like it would never happen. Their romance is slow burning and filled with trust, second chances, and love.
Caroline was raped by her commanding officer. Someone who she was supposed to trust, instead he used his power against her and left her helpless. Now, she’s AWOL and hiding out at Noah’s place and can’t let anyone know who she is, otherwise, it will be military prison for her.
Josh knew Caroline was the one for him, but her past makes it hard to develop a normal relationship. Caroline isn’t ready, but Josh has all the patience in the world when it comes to her. He starts off wooing her by bringing her pies. Yep, pies. Josh and Caroline’s friendship has been building since the first two books in this series, and now Josh’s charms are overshadowing Caroline’s fears. Caroline’s tired of being scared and agreeing to date Josh is a step in the right direction.
When Caroline first came to town, she was always looking over her shoulder, and always armed with her gun. With what she went through, I don’t blame her. It takes a strong woman to go through what she did and still be able to get up every day and try to live her life. With Josh, Caroline is able to trust again. She knows he wants the happily ever after package with her and in order to give it to him, she has some decisions to make.
Josh is such a great hero! He fights for Caroline and has no intentions of letting her down. His actions throughout the story show you just how much he cares. He never rushes her but at the same time, he doesn’t treat her like glass. He was perfect for Caroline!
Realistic situations, hard lessons, and amazing characters make Mixing Temptation a great addition to the Second Shot Series!
