REVIEW: Phoebe’s Baby Bombshell by J.C. Harroway

Phoebe’s Baby Bombshell by J.C. Harroway: Phoebe is almost forty and doing well as a Neonatal surgeon at Sydney Central Hospital. Several of her other longtime friends have important positions there also. Phoebe’s inhibitions and steadfastness are thrown to the winds when she meets a fellow surgeon at a big conference. What’s the harm in a one-night fling? Even with protection, Phoebe realizes that the symptoms she’s experiencing are not part of her less than routine cycles or an illness. She is surprised that she is pregnant at this late date. She tries to hide it from her friends, at first. Her friend and colleague who is the Head Ob/Gyn doctor believes Phoebe is pregnant after she asks some questions “for a friend”.

An even bigger dilemma is Zach, the “baby daddy”, who has come to help with some specialized surgery at Sydney Central. Phoebe is afraid to tell him the truth. Will putting that off make things even worse when she reveals everything? She is willing to let Zach make a choice about how much he wants to be involved in the raising of the child. Can the two co-parent with a good outcome for everyone involved, especially the child?

You can see why both protagonists have trouble with deciding what to do about a baby. They have issues in the past that make it hard to want a deep relationship. The author does an excellent job of showing that one can grow even at forty and some of your best years are ahead.

This is the final book in the four part series, Sydney Central Reunion. All four authors have crafted novels that perfectly dovetail with one another. A traumatic case that ties all four tales together is slowly resolved. I have seen even though Sydney is thousands of miles away from me, we all share so many hopes and dreams.

All four series writers have become new favorites in the Harlequin Medical Romance line. I look forward to seeing what J.C. Harroway comes up with next.
