Pregnant With The Secret Prince’s Babies by Deanne Anders: Nurse Summer Nelson and Dr. Alex Leonelli have been working together for a while with emergency medicine and taking critical patients from their hub in Key West to bigger hospitals in Miami. They have got close romantically, too. Summer finds out she is pregnant. Right when she tries to tell Alex this news, he suddenly rushes away with no real explanation other than muttering something about a friend needing help.

Summer is left on her own while discovering she is pregnant with twins. Alex finally returns. He still doesn’t reveal why he was gone. He is a little stunned that Summer is fairly far along in her pregnancy already. He wants to be involved with the babies, but Summer is not sure how much she can trust him to be around to help after his previous whirlwind departure. She has taken care of herself ever since she left her single mother’s home and a very meager childhood in poverty. Summer does know that Alex had a much different upbringing. His mother is a famous, beautiful movie star who raised him in Hollywood.

What Summer doesn’t know for quite some time is Alex is the illegitimate son of a king of a small country.

This further causes chaos for the two and Summer doesn’t think she wants Alex to take her and her babies into this lifestyle and upheaval. Can the two of them find a middle ground to keep their hearts and lives safe?

I enjoyed the drama of the various emergency cases in the plot. It added a lot of suspense. I was a little surprised that Summer was working as long as she did with being pregnant with twins. I would think that it would be cumbersome moving around in many situations.

I really liked Alex. He hadn’t let his background or being a doctor keep him from him being tender and loving. His only big flaw was leaving Summer in the lurch, but it was somewhat understandable.
Summer was truly driven to make it on her own. She has worked hard to get to the place she needed and wanted to be. I think she will be an excellent mother.

I have never been to Key West. It is a great setting for this novel. I hope author Deanne Anders will write more stories set in exotic locales.
