Reunion with the Brooding Billionaire by Ellie Darkins: Rowan decides she will visit her best friend at the family’s Cotswold manor before she runs an ultra marathon. She doesn’t realize that the older brother of her friend will be there. Rowan has a history with Jonathan Kinley. They kissed at an event seven years ago and the whole thing ended in a big mess. Being thrown together for several days may be asking for trouble, but Rowan decides she will stay for the sake of her friend.

The story focuses not just on romance, but family, betrayals and secrets. Jonathan has had to take over the family business and be a “parent” to his younger siblings after their parents took off and abandoned them. I liked that Jonathan was such a caring man and not just worried about himself.

Rowan seems to have grown and worked through her past issues. I didn’t understand her obsession with extreme running, but then sports have never been my thing.

Overall this is a good story about two people who are working hard, but I would have given it a higher score if there was a little more character development and less brooding, even though that is part of the title. Also, the Cotswolds is one of my favorite locations for novels and it would have been nice to have a little more description of the setting.
I have read previous books by author Ellie Darkins I truly enjoyed them. I hope to read more in the future that are a bit more fleshed out.
