Reunited with Her Italian Ex by Lucy Gordon: Natasha Bates didn’t trust men. After all every man she’s ever loved had disappeared on her, starting with her father. Which had led to her very bitter mother who helped to make her so bitter. Then in Italy she met him. Everything changed, he changed her, until that woman came along screaming at him and making Natasha think he was everything she feared in men. So she left. Then a couple of years later there was a man who wouldn’t take no for an answer so she ran again, back to Italy.
Mario Ferrone had been a playboy for practically since he discovered girls were different than boys. When he finally decided he was going to make something of his life he met her. He knew she was the one and he was going to tell her, until his ex showed up and made a mess of everything. Then she was gone, disappeared into thin air and he couldn’t find her anywhere, so he got harder, tougher and threw himself into business. Then two years later he sees her and still can’t bear to hate her.
Romeo and Juliet in modern times, destined to love one another and fated to never be together. Can one change fate? Can these two find love no matter what the obstacles are standing in their way? Or will the fates be true and these two be fated to love and yet die without the forever?
Ms. Gordon has taken the Romeo and Juliet story to an interesting level with this story. She does really well developing the inner character of both the hero and the heroine even if the dialogue leaves a little something to be desired. There is a hint of suspense which I wish would have been teased out a bit more, but it led to some interesting moments and “alphaism” with Mario that will make you wanting a protective Italian in your corner. Ms. Gordon does truly tie in some wonderful modern takes on this classic and you will enjoy the trip to Italy and the past.
