met online while handling his bosses social media account. This would make for a really sweet meeting cute, right? Well it would help if Annabelle knew that it was actually Neil’s sweet words that she has been falling for slowly not that of his tattooed edgy boss. With his feelings growing from Annabelle, Neil is determined to come clean but the question is how does he go about it without freaking her out? Well this is where boss gamer girl Afric comes into the picture.
Afric is an amazing boss girl, killing it with her professional gaming career and living her all round best life, except for when it comes to in person relationships. Which is exactly why her first meeting with Neil doesn’t get of to the best start but when she learns about his little catfish issues Afric decides to help him out, while he helps her organize her finances. Soon the two find themselves constantly texting and sharing cute inside jokes, however the question is will the queen of quest be able to concur her biggest quest yet; the one to find love?
“It was clearly way too soon for declarations of love, even though I’d never felt this way about a woman before. Finally, I replied, “I bet I could make you like kissing.”
When I first read the blurb if Sidequest For Love I was instantly taken with such a cute and fresh take on a meet cute romcom. The opposites attract trope is one of my all time favorites and Afric anf Neil could not be anymore opposite from each other, but at the same time balanced each other out so perfectly!
At first glance I was to sure if I would really like Afric, initially she came across as abrupt or off handed and a tiny but cold. However the more we got to know her the more we got to see that she is pure heroine gold! I loved that she lived her life unapologetically and was so loud and proud. That isn’t to say that she didn’t have her own insecurities and vulnerabilities, one of which is what pushed her to help Neil.
“I think I started falling for you the day you sent me that adorable selfie of you standing in Central Park,”
“I think I started falling for you the day I sent you that selfie and you slagged me endlessly for it.”
“I am quite fond of teasing you when you get embarrassed. This is true.”
As for our adorable hero Neil, oh gosh it was impossible not to like this guy! I loved watching him come into his own and feel more confident in his own skin the more time he spent with Afric. These two just made one of the cutest book couples, I loved their cute little text banter and that they watched Netflix alone together!
Sidequest For Love was just a delight to read, I loved reading every moment of this slow burn opposites attract romcom. This book is definitely a must read!
