The New Cowboy by Rebecca Winters: Avery Bannock is an archeologist working on gathering all The-New-Cowboy-by-Rebecca-Wintersthe Apsaalooke history and facts she can. She loves her job, but at the moment she has more to worry about, with thieves taking precious Native American artifacts from sites where they are digging and destroying even more. Which is how Zane Lawson, former Navy SEAL turned Bureau of Land Management Law Enforcement agent came to work with her.

Avery and Zane met the year before at a family gathering. Since the moment they met there was an attraction between them, but so far they only see each other on the rare Skype call, when he chats with Sadie and his nephew. So when he shows up at her site and tells her that he is now going to work to protect her and her site, she cannot be happier, but even more scared than before. She has a difficult past she is trying to put behind and which nobody in her family knows about. But only by being surrounded by her brothers and their families has she been able to move on in a way, if not forget it and get past it.

Zane is suffering from PTSD and immediately recognizes it in Avery, but talking with her brothers bring no light to the situation, leaving him wondering and afraid of what may have happened to her. But at the same time determined to find out and help her as much as he can. Only he doesn’t know how far Avery’s fears and doubts go until they try and take things to a more up close and personal level.

Yet that is not their only worry, they have to find the thieves and it looks like they may be willing to kill in order to keep stealing and selling artifacts on the black market. Putting Zane and Avery’s life in danger. But being a former Navy SEAL, means that Zane will not give up until he uncovers the truth and puts the bad guys behind bars, while keeping the woman he loves safe.

The tension and love between Zane and Avery is really sweet, and with them both suffering from PTSD things get very interesting. They will both have to learn how to deal with each other’s problems and try and help the other along while at the same time trying to live with their own. Getting past their past is not easy, but only looking towards the future will they be able to have any real kind of life. But love and understanding will lead them to what their heart desires and true happiness.

On a side note, can I just say how much I loved Sadie’s little son and Zane’s nephew Ryan, he is super cute and was in a few fun scenes.

If you want a sweet, heartwarming and entertaining read, don’t miss The New Cowboy by Rebecca Winters.
