The Rebel King by Kennedy Ryan: Survival runs through her veins. With determination and passion the one thing that Lennix will never do is surrender but what happens when the one person that she though was her safe place turns out to be a liar? With a passion burning as hot as fire and chemistry that promises combustion can Lennix be sure it was all real or had Maxim been fooling her all along?
I could not wait to get my hands on the second half of Maxim and Lennix’s story, we were left with the biggest cliffhanger at the end of The Kingmaker but thankfully this book picks up right where the last one ended and let me just tell you this book was even better than the first! I have always been a fan of Kennedy Ryan’s work and this duet is true testament to what makes her books stand out.
“She’s my survival kit. The girl who chases stars has war in her eyes, and she’ll need it. The toughest fight of our lives is ahead. The fight to heal.”
We already know our two main characters by now but gosh this book only gives us more. I loved getting to uncover more layers to these two characters and getting to see them both grow as their story progresses. Lennix was truly a force to be reckoned with, this girl knew her own strength and was not afraid to dig in her heels when she wanted to. And our hero Maxim loved her all the more for these characteristics. I loved that he did not try to tame her flame but instead accepted her for her true self and encouraged her to embrace her strength. These two really brought out the best in each other and that was beautiful to read.
Together these two were unstoppable. Even though they were so different from each other they really had a lot in common. The thing that made them such a strong couple was the fact that they challenged each other but in a way to help improve each other. They had such a great connection with incredibly explosive chemistry. It was truly hard to get enough of these two.
The Rebel King was just perfection. I loved that there was drama, angst, suspense, action, love, forgiveness, hope and so much passion. This book really had a bit of everything that made it a truly brilliant read!

Raised to resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option.
Though surrender is what Maxim Cade demanded of my body and heart, I had other plans. We were fast-burning fascination and combustible chemistry, but the man I trusted with everything was a trickster. A thief who stole my love. If what we had was a lie, why did it feel so real? The man I swore to hate will have it all, and wants me at his side. But power is a game, and we’re the pawns and players.
Facing insurmountable odds, will we win the world, or will we lose it all?
