Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Ann Marie Walker to HJ!
Hi Ann Marie and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Happy Singles Day!
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
As a Certified Professional Organizer, everything in Paige Parker’s world is as it should be. Perfect apartment, perfect office, perfect life. And now, the perfect vacation planned to honor Singles Day. After all, what’s better than celebrating her pride in being single? Because who needs a man anyway? They have zero taste in quality television, leave the toilet seat up, and sleep with your best friend. No thanks. Her life is fine just the way it is.
As the owner of a now-dormant bed & breakfast, Lucas Croft’s life is simple and quiet. It’s only him and his five-year-old daughter, which is just the way he likes it. Because who needs a woman anyway? They nag you to clean up your stuff, want the toilet seat put down, and expect the dishes to be done the same day the meal is cooked. No thanks. His life is fine just the way it is.
But when Paige books a room that Lucas’ well-intentioned sister listed without his knowledge, their two worlds collide. If they can survive the week together, they just might discover exactly what they’ve both been missing.
Please share your favorite quote from the book:
Oh, that’s a really tough question because it depends on my mood, but here’s one that I think is true on a few levels:
Lucas laughed. “Live a little, Paige. Not everything has to be picture perfect. Sometimes you just need to eat a cake right out of the box.”
What do you want people to take away from reading this book?
This book is dedicated to everyone who is brave enough to try again. That’s really the central theme: healing and finding new beginnings that just might lead to lasting love.
Enjoy a short excerpt from Happy Singles Day:
Paige kept her eyes closed, trying her best to ignore the sunlight streaming in through the window. She wasn’t ready to wake up. Not when her dreams brought images of Lucas, bathed in the soft glow of the fireplace. Like they had been the day before, his eyes were lit by the reflection of the flickering flames, but in this version, he wasn’t wearing a super soft black sweater. No, Paige’s subconscious preferred him just as she’d first met him, bare-chested and wearing only a pair of faded jeans and a few days’ worth of stubble. She had wondered how it would feel beneath her fingertips, against her cheek, or even between her thighs. But unlike in real life, where her fantasies remained on the pages of romance novels, dream-state Paige was brazen, bold, and wanton. She reached out, her fingers tracing the outline of his jaw. His gaze darkened as he leaned closer, so close she could feel his warm breath against her cheek like a ray of sunlight on a cold winter’s day. Her lips parted in anticipation…
Wait.
A ray of sunlight?
What the…
Her eyes opened, and as they did, her sexy carpenter vanished like a genie being sucked back into his bottle. She groaned, as much from the bright sunshine as the evaporation of another near kiss.
Paige’s hands flew to her face, shielding her eyes as she rubbed away the last remnants of sleep. She didn’t want to wake up. She wanted to stay in a dream world where cloudless skies and ferry boats didn’t mean the end of something that had barely begun.
Leave it to her to find herself plopped into a Hallmark movie where the storm clears too early.

Aside from being married? I bought a muscle car back in ’72… Then proceeded to test it out on the old airstrips at Floyd Bennett Field her in Brooklyn. I had the 340 4 barrel and it really took off. I got it up to 100 before throttling back the speed. On the highways and parkways I kept it to a more docile speed.
