Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Jayne and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, It Takes A Psychic!

Excited to be here! Waving from Seattle.

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

Leona Griffin thinks Oliver Rancourt is an artifact thief. Oliver is pretty sure Leona is in that line of work. Roxy, the licensed emotional support dust bunny and fashion icon, doesn’t care about who is stealing what so long as she gets to wear the great fascinator hat. Now all three are headed for the town of Lost Creek in search of a priceless relic named Pandora’s box. Unfortunately, the small community is in thrall to the leader of a cult — a cult leader who was supposed to have died a hundred years ago.

Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:

“Did I ever tell you that I’ve got a thing for strong, take-charge women?”
“Don’t worry, men with that issue always change their minds after a few dates with me,” she said.
“Then what?”
“They panic and run.”

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

Roxy, the dust bunny. What can I say? the dust bunnies have taken control of my Jayne Castle world.

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

They don’t trust each other but they are both in trouble and need each other ‘s help in order to survive.

Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?

I always amuse myself when I write the dust bunny scenes. There are several in this book. I hope readers get a kick out of them, too.

Readers should read this book….

…If they are in the mood for fast-moving, futuristic romantic suspense featuring a licensed emotional support dust bunny.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

Next up for me will be The Shop on Hidden Lane (under my Jayne Ann Krentz name). There’s a dog in this one.

Excerpt from It Takes A Psychic:

Oliver glanced at the crystal artifact in her hand. “What is that?”

She cleared her throat and dropped the object into her evening bag. It barely fit. “It’s an interesting little sculpture. Old World. Circa the nineteenth century, I think, although this isn’t my area of expertise.”

“Yeah, but what is it?”

“I believe the technical name for this type of sculpture is personal intimacy aid.”

He nodded. “Thought so. A hot dildo.”

Book Info:

Two unlikely allies search for the secrets of their pasts while on the run within the Alien world of Harmony in the thrilling new novel by New York Times bestselling author Jayne Castle.

Leona Griffin is at the height of her career as a para-archeologist thanks to a recent Underworld discovery. Her high profile attracts the attention of an organization of elite, secretive collectors. They want her to authenticate the artifacts that aspiring members submit as evidence to join their group. The ceremony takes place at a glittering reception where Leona is shocked to discover that one of the relics is a powerful Old-World object known as Pandora’s Box. But she’s not the only one interested in that artifact.

Oliver Rancourt, a man with a unique talent—they say you never see him coming—is also there. Leona knows she must not underestimate him. Attempting to make a discreet exit, she stumbles over the body of a waiter wearing the emblem of a dangerous cult. Before she can alert authorities, a police raid sends the reception into chaos. To avoid being arrested, Leona slips away with Oliver—a risky decision that gets her fired.

Now forced to work together, Leona and Oliver pursue an investigation that leads them to the town of Lost Creek where the locals are obsessed with a chilling legend involving a long-dead cult leader and illicit paranormal experiments. But Leona knows the real danger may be the irresistible attraction between herself and Oliver.

I can’t remember the author or title, but I do love Jayne Castle/Jayne Krentz/Amanda Quick’s books.

  2. Janine Rowe

It was so long ago, I do not remember the title or author of my first romantic suspense.

  3. Pam Conway

No I can’t remember but it was a long time ago! I do love all of Jayne Ann Krentz’s books though!!

  4. Laurie Gommermann

The first book that I read that made me fall in love with romance books was FORGIVING by LaVyrle Spencer. I found it at a pool library while we were vacationing in Florida.
I then discovered more of her stories and several other authors via the novel of the month in Good Housekeeping magazine.

Do you remember the title and/or author of the first novel of romance or romantic suspense that made you fall in love with the genre? No

  6. DIANE SALLANS

It was a long time ago so I don’t remember which book was first – could have been a Barbara Carland or Georgette Heyer, but there was also a box of Harlequins my aunt gave my Mom.

  7. Glenda Hefty

So very long ago…thinking it was a Kathleen Woodiwess (doesn’t look like correct spelling ) but I also had read various Harlequin Romances by then also. I read a lot so hard to say. But I love JAK in all her iterations. I buy any I find.

I don’t remember if it was my first, but I do remember buying Trust Me at Waldenbooks back in 1995. It wasn’t the first JAK title I’d read but it’s the one that led me to buying and reading all* of her books under her numerous pseudonyms.

*except the very early MacFadden books written as Jayne Bentley and Jayne Castle. I haven’t ever found those 7, but I’ve read everything else.

Our middle school library had some Mary Stewart books. The first I remember was Nine Coaches Waiting. I have a lot of Amanda Quick, Jayne Ann Krentz and a couple of Jayne Castle books in my collection.

I really enjoyed reading and re-reading Little Women when I was a little girl. Later on when I was a teenager my Grandma’s next door neighbor would give me her old harlequin romances.

For many years I would read the blurbs on the back covers of romance books. They sounded good, but the bodice ripper covers were a turnoff. I found one of Julie Garwood’s medieval books that had a fabric shall and jeweled broach on the cover. That was her THE PRIZE. I looked for every one of her books after that. This was before she started doing contemporary suspense. That book opened the door to romances and I have been hooked on the genre in most of its forms since.

It has been a long time, but it was probably something by Victoria Holt. I was heavy into her and Phyllis A. Whitney in middle school.
