Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Kristina Knight to HJ!
Hi Kristina and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Jase: Nevada Cowboys Book 2!
Hi! I’m so glad to be back with you!
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
Jase is the third book in my Nevada Cowboys trilogy; it’s a one-night stand/love at first sight romance that is so much fun! Jase is a gambler – but he has very strict rules about gambling. Sabrina just has rules, about everything. There is banter and steam and some tough-love from his brothers. It’s a fun read!
Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:
This is from Sabrina – she’s coming to terms with having a one-night stand with Jase, something she never does, and he’s being equal parts charming and helpful…two things she really doesn’t trust from men.
“I don’t see fairy wings under that bomber jacket, and there definitely isn’t a halo over your head.”
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
It takes place in Las Vegas, like the other 2 books in the series. There is a bit of card playing involved (I love playing cards!). And one of Sabrina’s super-fans kind of becomes a stalker (in the bonkers-but-sweetest way) of Jase’s.
What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?
Their attraction is definitely physical in the beginning, but it quickly turns to a mutual admiration society. Sabrina is attracted to Jase’s relationship with his brothers, she admires his business sense, and she quickly sees that the help he offers is part of him…he’s not trying to make points with her. Jase is fascinated by Sabrina’s relationship with her mother; she thinks she is super smart and a good writer, and he admires the way she looks at life.
Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?
In the first part of the book, Sabrina goes looking for Jase and can only find a business address. She wants to repay him because she doesn’t like owing people. What she doesn’t realize is that his place of business is also Gage’s and Connor’s place of business and … well, instead of Jase, she finds his brothers. Here’s a little peek at the scene:
Sigh-worthy. All three Reeves brothers were sigh-worthy. If she were that kind of woman.
These two were just as handsome, and probably just as charming, as the man she couldn’t get out of her head.
She shook her head. “No, I, uh, have the wrong building,” she lied, looking from one strong-jawed, tall man to the other. “I was just leaving.”
“What building were you looking for?” the other man, with brown hair like Jase’s and the same hazel eyes, asked.
Name of a building, name of a building. Any name of a building. “Binion’s,” Sabrina blurted the first building name she could think of and immediately wanted to sink through the floor. There was no way anyone would mistake this building for Binion’s and its stories of blue-and-white neon and huge sign hanging on the front of it. By comparison, this building was more Midwest-downtown, with its not-neon signage and bricked facade.
“You’re way off course. Binion’s is a couple blocks down, in the middle of the Fremont Experience.” Both men watched her closely, but neither pushed for a better explanation.
“Right,” Sabrina said, shaking her head and feeling like an idiot. “I just … got turned around. Sorry to have bothered you.”
“No bother,” they said at the same time, making Sabrina smile. Their voices, too, were echoes of Jase, although his seemed deeper in her memory. More growly. Or maybe that was just wishful thinking. She turned to go and stopped dead. The third brother, the brother she’d come here to pay back or maybe just to see one last time, stood in the entryway to the building looking as dumbstruck as she felt.
“Sabrina?”
“Oh, hello,” she said, pasting a bright smile on her face. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”
“Who did you expect to see here?”
“The ghost of Benny Binion, probably,” said the brother with darker hair.
Readers should read this book….
If you like banter and a bit of smolder … if brothers giving each other a hard time is your thing … if you like heroines who are as feisty as they are resilient…you’ll love Jase!
What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?
I’m finishing up a new book that will go out on proposal in just a few weeks … so stay tuned!
Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from Jase: Nevada Cowboys Book 2:
“Getting a drink is always a good idea. Especially when the drink includes a few more minutes with the beautiful woman who beat me at my favorite game.”
“You need a new hobby.”
“But you still want that drink,” he said.
She shook her head. “No, I’m good.”
“We’ve passed three chip-cashing stations, and we’re coming back up on the tables. You want that drink.”
She stopped, and her cheeks pinkened in the casino lighting. “You’re a distraction.”
“I could say the same about you. I don’t usually lose.”
“Everybody loses.”
“I lose less than most.” His shoulders straightened. Jase couldn’t help it. Playing cards was one thing in his life that remained the same. Didn’t matter what was happening with his family or the ranch or his business. A flush was a flush, a straight a straight, and a full house would always beat two pair.
She started walking again, and this time turned toward the bank of elevators. “How do you lose less than most?”
“I don’t gamble.”
The woman rolled her eyes. “We just spent the better part of two hours gambling.” She stopped before the elevators and hit the penthouse button.
“I spent the better part of two hours studying you and playing cards. There’s a difference.”
“So when does gambling become gambling, then, instead of just playing cards?”
“When you lose sight of your goal. My goal was a drink with you.”
She pressed the up arrow again. “Then you not only gambled.” She stepped into the car and pressed a button. The doors began to close. “You lost.”
“Crap,” Jase muttered as the doors shut. He shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans and hit the up arrow to call his own car to the casino floor. It wasn’t the worst outcome. So he’d gambled that she would back down, and lost. No big deal.
He hit the call button again and waited.
So he’d been hoping for a little more than a drink from the first woman in a long time to make him sit up and take notice.
The elevator dinged its arrival.
He’d been turned down before. No big deal. He’d just go run a mile or so on the treadmill in the casino gym, pushing any and all thoughts of the pretty blonde with the Irish eyes out of his head.
The elevator doors slid open, but Jase was rooted to the spot.
“Just so you know,” the woman from the table said, “this isn’t you winning whatever bet you had going with yourself. This is my choice.”

Hot Las Vegas nights get even steamier for these three powerful, wealthy businessmen with cowboy roots and the strong, independent women who fall for them. What happens in Vegas certainly won’t stay there as these successful tycoons win at love.
Jase Reeves lives his life by rules: never get emotional at the poker table and never get emotional with women. But when he meets self-help author Sabrina York all bets are off. Sabrina enjoys fame and fortune writing her female-empowerment books, but she could do without the reputation – that of the Oldest Living (Supposed) Virgin in Vegas. Blowing up her entire life because sexy gambler Jase Reeves has shown an interest in her? Sabrina has already written the book on that, but staying away from Jase isn’t as simple as closing the cover of her favorite book. And for Jase, melting the heart of the Vegas Virgin might be his greatest gamble yet…

Not since I was a child and we drove through on our way somewhere else

We went there many years ago,1982 I think. None of the big, fancy hotels existed then. Circus Circus was the only one that had much that children could go to – a trapeze act above the main room. I would really like to go back to see all the wonderful new casinos and other sites. This time minus an elderly aunt, a baby and 3 grade school kids.
