Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Andie and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Kidnapped for Her Secret Son!

Hi, it’s great to be here. Thank you for having me!

Tell us about the book with this fun little challenge using the title of the book:

K – Keeping secrets
F – Finding love
H – Hiding the past
S – Sensual desire
S – Setting your heart free!

What’s your favorite line(s) from the book?:

I love this when Jaco asks Leah how she would like her steak cooked. Leah is trying so hard to be strong and stand up for herself, but the powerful sensual attraction between them means she just ends up getting in hot water!

‘You mean I get the choice?’ Leah growled at him. ‘You seem so hell bent on controlling my life, I’m surprised that doesn’t include what I put in my mouth.’

Please tell us a little about the characters in your book. What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

Leah is a wild-child, the complete opposite of her saintly twin, Harper. Always getting into trouble, always messing up, life seems determined to smack her in the face.
Cool and sophisticated on the outside, Jaco hides a troubled past. Something has haunted him all his life, and now he intends to put that right.
The attraction between them is instant, overpowering and all consuming!

When you sat down to start this book, what was the biggest challenge you faced? What were you most excited about?

Leah McDonald has a twin sister, Harper, whose story was told first in Vieri’s Convenient Vows. I loved writing them both, but as this is the first time I’ve done linked stories I had to make sure I got the balance right between making them stand alone books and bringing in the other twin’s past.

What, in your mind, makes this book stand out?

I love the difference between their characters. Leah is hot headed and volatile, Jaco is all infuriating calm and control – on the outside at least. The clash in personalities makes for a lively story!

The First Kiss…

Jaco has dived into the pool to rescue Leah, who can’t swim:
His head lowered and suddenly his mouth was on hers, his lips so silkily seductive that it was all she could do to stifle a whimper of longing. She had wanted this for so long, dreamed about it, riled against it, but never, ever been able to ignore it. And suddenly she was returning the kiss, as if on some destructive automatic pilot, her whole body succumbing to the erotic sensations that his expert skills so easily aroused.
Moving his hands around her back he pulled her closer to him, crushing her cold, damp breasts against the broad expanse of his chest, the slick of moisture sealing them together. As he caught the tip of her tongue with his, Leah responded, the kiss growing more fervent, more passionate with every highly charged second. Such was his expertise, his sensual, masculine power, the sheer perfection of him, that her senses were ripped apart, lost to the mad thunder of her heart.

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?

I’d pick the scene in Jaco’s Sicilian villa when Leah discovers she has been wrong about something – but she’s still defiant!

‘Well, what was I supposed to think?’ Leah angled her head away but Jaco caught hold of her chin and turned her to face him again. He was clearly going to spare her no mercy.
‘Don’t.’
‘Don’t what?’ With the compelling force of Jaco’s glittering gaze stealing all reason, Leah had no idea about anything anymore.
‘Don’t think.’ Jaco helpfully supplied her with the answer, tracing her jaw line with a feather-light finger that rippled a slide of sensation through her senses. ‘Thinking only gets you into trouble. Now is the time to show me how sorry you are.’
‘Who says I’m sorry?’ The arrogance of this man was astounding. As was the sudden lack of air in the room, the sweeping sexual current that was dragging her under, making it impossible to breath.
‘I do, Leah.’

If your hero had a sexy-times play list, what song(s) would have to be on it?

Make You Feel My Love – the Bob Dylan original.

What do you want people to take away from reading this book?

A roller-coaster ride of emotions. If I can make the reader laugh and cry, my job is done!

What are you currently working on? What are your up-coming releases?

My next book will be released in the spring of 2019. When they first meet and fall in love, Nikos is a penniless Greek and Kate a wealthy New Yorker. Fate tears them apart, but when they reunite everything has changed – apart from the burning attraction between them!

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from Kidnapped for Her Secret Son:

Jaco has moved Leah and their baby son to his remote Sicilian island for their own protection.
‘So I was right.’ The blood rushed to Leah’s head. ‘You are never going to let us go, are you? You are going to keep us captive forever, move us around from place to place, keep us locked in some squalid basement so that we never see the light of day, like those horror stories you read about in the papers.’
‘For God’s sake calm down, Leah.’ Jaco closed in on her with a single step, catching her against him and restraining her hysterical rant with two hands placed firmly on her bare shoulders. Leah felt the heat of his touch sear into her skin, branding her flesh, tightening her nipples.
‘I will not calm down.’ She went to twist away but Jaco held her firm, coming closer until the miniscule gap between them disappeared completely.
‘Well, get some control over your vivid imagination then.’ He moved one arm around her shoulder in a blatant display of masculine dominance. ‘Getting yourself worked up is not going to help anyone. There will be no moving around, no basements. Circumstances mean that unfortunately it is necessary to keep you here for a short period of time…’
‘Circumstances?’ Fighting to free herself from his arms, Leah threw back her head so that her auburn curls rippled down her back. ‘What circumstances?!’
‘But while you are here, ‘Jaco continued as if she hadn’t spoken, ‘you will be offered every convenience to make your stay as pleasant as possible.’
‘Let me assure you, Jaco Valentino, there will be nothing remotely pleasant about my stay.’ Her reply whistled through the air like a bullet.
‘No?’ Jaco let his eyes slowly drift over her face, watching as she blinked to try and hide her reaction to him, her muscles twitching beneath the heated skin, her mouth pulled into an unconscious pout. She hated the way he could do this to her. Hated even more the way he revelled in his power. ‘You’re sure about that are you, Leah?’
‘Yes, yes I am.’ She stepped away from him, backwards into the room.
‘Well, I guess I will just have to take your word for that.’ His tongue pushed against the inside of his cheek. ‘Anyway.’ He turned an arrogant shoulder. ‘I just came to see if you needed anything. There is plenty of food in the kitchen if you would like to join me for breakfast.’
‘I would rather boil my head in oil.’
‘Suit yourself.’
She watched, breathless with burning impotence, as Jaco made towards the door, deliberately rolling his shoulders as if to be rid of her, the tanned olive skin stretching over his muscled torso.
Reaching the doorway he stopped, leaning against the door jamb to address her again.
‘Oh, by the way,’ he feigned a casualness belied by the intensity of his stare. ‘If you are looking for your phone, I have had to requisition it. Just for the duration of your stay.’
‘You have done what?!’ Speechless with anger, Leah could only gape at him. He must have come into her room and stolen it from her. This was unbelievable.
‘I can’t afford for you to give away your whereabouts and I don’t trust you to keep quiet.’
Too right she wouldn’t keep quiet.
