Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author A.L. Jackson to HJ!
Hi A.L. Jackson and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, More of You!
Thank you for having me!
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
More of You is a sweet and spice (I need to mention suspenseful!) second-chance romance that tells the story of Jace and Faith. Faith meets Jace when he’s dragged into the office on his first day of attending a new high school. She’s immediately drawn to the boy who’s the talk of the town. But this story is not a YA. Oh, no, it picks up ten years later after Faith’s husband was murdered. Faith is trying to pick up the pieces of her life, but it becomes impossible when she and her young daughter begin to receive threatening letters. Jace returns to protect them, but Faith is sure her fragile heart can’t trust the one man she truly loved. Now she must decide if Jace is there to save her and her daughter or will only break her heart all over again.
Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:
“You took my heart when you left,” I whispered.
He took a slow step forward, his confession cracking in the air. “And I left mine with you.”“Let’s dream again…”
“You are beauty looking back at me.”
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
- I spent days looking at images on Pinterest to get inspiration for this story. It takes place on an abandoned, falling down plantation that Faith has always dreamed of turning into a bed and breakfast. It was so cool getting the vision for the awe-inspiring setting in this book.
- Um…plough mud. Has anyone heard/smelled this? Apparently this is the first thing everyone who is from the area thinks of – it’s the strong scent of the marshlands in the area of Charleston, South Carolina where this book is set. I totes learned something new on this one!
What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?
Oh man, Jace is just impossible not to notice. He’s that very stoic, strong guy in a suit. Just looking at him and you know he has secrets. Not to mention he’s oozing power and sex, even in the flashbacks when he was young and poor. He was just one of those guys you can’t help but look at.
And Faith…oh man, she’s amazing. I loved writing her strong spirit and her belief in the world. She inspired Jace to live a better life at a young age, and I love her wisdom and insight.
If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?
It would definitely have to be the kitchen scene. It’s the first time Faith is giving into her old feelings for Jace and admitting aloud that she’s always loved him. It’s intense and raw and soooo sexy!
“You took my heart when you left,” I whispered.
He took a slow step forward, his confession cracking in the air. “And I left mine with you.”
Oh God. This was torture, but I should have known it was comin’. That we couldn’t ignore this forever.
I clutched my hands over my drumming heart. “Joseph was there for me.”
Why’d it come out sounding like a defense?
And why’d it hurt so bad to see the hurt and guilt strike on Jace’s face when I said it?
“I loved him, Jace. I really did.”
Slowly, he nodded, though somehow it looked as if he might be sick right there on my floor.
Or maybe he was restraining himself from flying around and putting his fist through the wall with the way his muscles jumped and ticked as he curled his hands.
“I know,” he said, voice hoarse.
“But it was different.” I wanted to reel it back in, stop the flow of words that just kept coming. I didn’t know how to stop them. If I was wrong for speaking them or right for admitting the truth.
He took another step farther into the kitchen.
The ground shook beneath my feet.
Fear and questions started to ramble from my mouth. “I . . . I just don’t know how to move on from there. From promising all of my life to him.”
Would I be a fool for moving on in Jace’s direction? More than that, would it be a betrayal to Joseph?
An echo of Joseph’s voice stroked through my mind. He’d come home in the middle of the night a few years ago, and his voice had been slurred and his breath pungent with alcohol.
I want to erase him from you. Make you forget he ever existed. Tell me you don’t still love him.
I wondered if he’d heard my answer in my silence.
If he’d hate me for bringing Jace into our home. Into our lives.
But I didn’t have to step that direction because Jace was already moving my way. Making the decision for me. Predatory in his stance, possession in each measured stride.
Trembles raced through my body when he reached out and let his fingertips flutter down the side of my cheek. His touch soft and those coppery eyes fierce. “I only want to take care of you. Let me.”
Readers should read this book….
You should definitely read this book if you love timeless romances with a loyal, devoted, sexy hero who will fight for what should have always belonged to him and a strong heroine who is fighting for her family.
What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?
Right now, I’m working on ALL OF ME, which is the second book in the Confessions of the Heart stand-alone novels. In ALL OF ME, you’ll get Ian’s story, who you’ll meet in MORE OF YOU. He’s Jace’s jaded little brother. This one is going to be HOT!

I loved writing the setting. I felt as if it added so much intrigue and mystery to the story.Do you feel as if location and setting mean much in a story to you? Are you drawn to stories told in certain regions, whether it be big cities or foreign countries or small towns?.
Excerpt from More of You:
“Do you remember?” I asked her. “The night you gave yourself to me? What I told you?”
“That you’d love me forever.” Her hands wrapped around my wrists. Her voice dropped.
Low with seduction.
Still, the girl was so damned sweet that it still managed to come out sounding shy. “I remember everything. The way you touched me. The way you loved me. But I’d already belonged to you, Jace. Just like I do now.”
I pressed her up harder against the wall, her back hitting it with a soft thud, an echo that wound with the promise that fell from my mouth. “I lost you once. I won’t let it happen again. I won’t let you go.”
“I don’t want you to. Don’t ever let me go. I need you, Jace. I need you to stay.”
My hands slid down the perfect curves of her body, landing on her waist and cinching tight. “Tell me again,” I demanded.
She lifted her chin toward my face, her voice so devastatingly soft, and still, the loudest thing I’d ever heard. “I’m in love with you. I love you so much it hurts.”
I was going to erase the sting.
Eradicate the hurt.
Touch her and please her until there was nothing but pleasure.
Protect her in a way that she would always know she was safe.
Softly, I brushed my fingers through her hair. “And you’re the only one who’s ever taken my pain away.”
“I guess maybe we’ve always just been better together,” she whispered in that soft accent that she wore so well. Goodness on her tongue and trust in her eyes.
“Together,” was my only answer, and then I was sweeping her off her feet and pulling her into my arms, cradling her like a treasure against my chest.
I carried her through the dancing shadows of the room to the massive four-poster bed.
The carved wood was dark and gleaming, lush in the light of the moon, the plush, satiny, cream-colored bedding screaming luxury in what had once been the master suite.
Luxury was fucking right.
There was no greater extravagance or indulgence than being inside Faith. No greater riches than holding this girl in my hands.
And I was about to get greedy.
Those slender arms clung to my neck as I leaned down and peeled the covers back.
I laid her in the middle.
Chocolate hair spilled out all around her, and that tight body arched.
I hadn’t even touched her, and she was already quivering with need.
Her breaths panted into the dense, dense air, stirring up the memories that were ready to stand and fight for a future.
I’d let her go, thinking it was what was the best for her. It had been the most foolish thing I had ever done.
No more.
I stepped back and stared down at her where she was laid out like a vision on that bed.
A fucking fantasy.
The girl I’d been dreaming of for all these years. A tease in my mind and a scar on my body.
My body that raced, muscles clenched tight, my dick begging at the seam of my jeans.
Mine.
Her hand fluttered up.
A whisper.
A plea.
“I don’t wanna be alone. Not anymore, Jace. Take it from me . . . that place that’s been achin’ for you for all these years. It’s always belonged to you, anyway.”

Book Info:
My daddy warned me never to fall for a boy like Jace Jacobs . . .
The second I saw him walk through the door, I knew he was trouble.
A gorgeous rebel with a bad attitude and a huge chip on his shoulder.
My heart warned me. I didn’t listen. I saw something protective and good beneath the fierce, tough exterior.
I fell hard and fast.
He promised we’d be together forever, and then left me with a broken heart.
Now, ten years later, Jace Jacobs is standing at my door.
Sexier than he’s ever been.
Provocative and commanding.
Successful and powerful.
The man I always knew he would become.
But I promised myself I’d never lose my heart to him again.
Even time couldn’t dim our chemistry. One glance of his intense eyes, and I become weak. One brush of his hand, and he brings me to my knees.
Little do I know, Jace holds the key to everything I’ve lost and everything that threatens my future.
Now he will either save me, or he will break me all over again . . .

Love small town romances much more than big city ones. Probably because I came from a small town and can related more
Sonia
I personally do think that the setting plays a big role in the story and I really like when the locations are set in the city.
Joy Avery
I usually pay most of my attention to the story and not the setting.
Mary Preston
I think that sometimes the setting can become almost like another character. The perfect location can make the story even better. Happy to read about any location so long as it is a good fit.
gemiinii90
Sometimes. It depends on my mood. I care more about the blurb than setting. However, I do have a weak spot for small towns. I am international myself (I live in Europe), however, I prefer books that are set in countries where English is the first language.

Susan T.
It does. I’ve been in the mood for small town romance since I live in a big city. Love the roots people have there.
janinecatmom
I’m as drawn to locations as much as I am characters and the story.
lorih824
I’m not drawn to certain locations however I do think it is important to the development of the story.
Jolanda LovestoRead
Yes it does for me and it depands on my mood.
kermitsgirl
I do get sucked into locations – and I get giddy when I read about a place I’ve been and it’s been accurately described. No particular favorite, though.
jaimerlong
I do think settings are important. I am drawn to stories that are set in small towns. I think it is because I am from a small town, so I understand them more.
lea
I don`t have a preference!
Saheena
Just finished reading More of you and loved it so much❤️
Saheena
Although I am not drawn to particular setting, I do think it is important in a story as it gives context and development about the characters and how they interact.
Kathleen O
Most of the time setting is not an issue for me, but your booked grabbed me because it is set in one of my fav places I have visited. Charleston SC. I fell in love with city when I first visited. So it’s always special when a book has this city as it’s setting.
Amy R
It’s more the story for me than the setting.
lraines78
I am drawn to small towns and tend to read a lot of books set in Washington, Oregon, Northern California, east coast, and near oceans.
Caro
Yes, I feel the setting is important and a big part of the story at times. However, if the story is good, I don’t care much for the setting, lol.
HEATHER SCULLY
Yeah. I think setting can make a huge difference. I mean…the location in certains stories, or series, can become a character all its own, right? Becomes a focus in the story…the…main reason characters are who they are, or…where they are in their lives. Many of the series I follow are named after, or follow the residents or families in specific locales. And in fact, the book I’m working on, the small town is, very important to the plot. And will feature heavily in any other related stories I may choose to write later. So. In short… Lol yes. Very important. ❤
Daniel M
i like when the write about someplace local
Colleen C.
I focus more on the characters than location…
Debra Shutters
I am drawn to the story line more than where it is located
Juli Hall
I do. I’m drawn to small coastal towns because that’s where I want to live
laurieg72
I think the setting is an essential part of the story. The author brings it to life for me. However, I don’t have a favorite locale. I love the small town series like Virgin River, Fools Gold,Lucky Harbor, Cedar Cove Thunder Point to name a few. I like the Presents line from Harlequin which introduced me to so many foreign locales. I also like to experience the big city life through the eyes of an author.
All of the locales make me want to travel some day soon.
Darla
Oh yeah. I love how a setting plays into the story. Small town, city, even just the regular burbs can all be played to the story’s advantage. 🙂
Marsha Bachmeier
I think it depends on the book. I like to know about the location, and often it does play a role in the book, more so if they are small towns. I especially love if they are real places, or places that are modeled after actual places… it makes me want to go visit them. 🙂 I’ve read some books that they don’t ever name the town. It’s just referred to as ‘This City’ or ‘Our Town” ect. While it doesn’t necessarily take away from the book, it makes it hard to picture the setting.
Joanne B
I love small town settings.
Mary C.
I enjoy stories set in different locations.
Teresa Williams
I don’t have a preference but small towns are great.
Tammy Y
All of them
Lynne Brigman
I love all of them
BookLady
I enjoy reading stories set in places I have visited.
Shannon Capelle
I love small town settings, but also other countries. I love when the setting is really descriptive so i can imagine it in my mind!
Angel Crum
Yes settings are importand, they are the backdrop to the story. I am drawn to small towns and big cities, i love them both for different reasons.
Irma
Scenery isn’t that much of a factor to me. But at the same time I do enjoy small town romances.
clickclickmycat
I will love reading this. I have spent my whole life in Charleston, SC.
Jami Birnbaum
I’ve always wanted to move to Stars Hollow (Gilmore Girls), so it doesn’t matter to me whether it a small town or a large city, made up or real in the books or series that I read.I love to get lost in the story.
bn100
not really
Olga
I like all of them, no preference.
