Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Elizabeth Everett to HJ!

Hi Elizabeth and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, The Lady Sparks a Flame!
Hello and Happy Spring!
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
This book is an early-Victorian set historical romance that features a heroine who was the villain in my first book. She is angry and icy and doesn’t trust any man, let alone one who exudes sunshine and happiness. When they find themselves stuck together in places as varied as a haunted hallway, a bordello-themed bedroom, and a dirty gin hall, our heroine learns that trusting her hero is as easy – or as difficult – as trusting her herself.
Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:
“I’ve been shot, I’ve been hung, I’ve been drowned, fa la la la la”
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
I learned a great deal about the British scientist Michael Faraday, the first male scientist I have ever researched, who was introduced to science when he first read a book by a woman, Mrs. Jane Marcet.
What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?
The hero was first attracted to the heroine’s beauty, but what really caught and held his interest was her intimidating iciness. He loves nothing more than a challenge.
Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?
Our hero, Sam, has an adversarial relationship with gravity and I chuckled to myself every time he fell in, off, over or up an immovable object.
Readers should read this book….
This book has a great deal of humor but does examine some difficult questions. The heroine and her family were victims of domestic abuse and for that reason, she self-harmed during her adolescence. If readers want to see a woman who overcame the trauma of abuse to grow into a strong, fierce, and independent woman who is deserving of a hero who loves her, then this is the book for them.
What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?
My next release with Berkley is going to be a paranormal romcom, entitled Magic and Mischief at the Wayside Hotel. Watch out for cheerleading faeries, a gnome with IBS, an earnest hero/building superintendent and a single-mom heroine.
Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Book Info:
A Lady with a past. A man with ambition. A romance far from London society that might bridge their divides.
Lady Phoebe Hunt never anticipated returning from exile. A fatal choice drove her from England, but the death of her father—and the revelation of his debts—has brought her home. Once she settles her father’s estate, she will return to America, where she has reinvented herself. There’s no reason to remain, not even for one gravitationally challenged but deliciously tempting entrepreneur: Sam Fenley.
Samuel Fenley is all ambition. Rising from shop boy to wealthy investor, he’s left knocking on doors that open only for those with a title. Unless he buys the damned door itself—and the estate that goes with it. Sam offers to relieve Phoebe of her burdens, but is her crumbling mansion all Sam wants? Or is it the Lady herself?
When threats from Phoebe’s past spark new dangers, Sam and Phoebe discover that neither is what the other expected. Standing on the edge of disaster, the disgraced Ice Queen will have to decide if she wants to forge through life alone, or let an unlikely hero melt her heart.
Meet the Author:
USA Today bestselling author Elizabeth Everett lives in upstate New York with her family. She likes going for long walks or (very) short runs to nearby sites that figure prominently in the history of civil rights and women’s suffrage. Her series is inspired by her admiration for rule breakers and her belief in the power of love to change the world
