Hi Anna and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, The Last Sunrise!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

 
Where to start… this is the hardest part of writing hah. I’ll try to keep it short and sweet, but The Last Sunrise follows Oriah (Ry) as she goes from Dallas to Majorca to have the self-proclaimed best summer of her life, and of course, she meets a grumpy local fisherman who despises tourists and wealthy people in general. Ry happens to be both of those things. His judgmental attitude toward her begins to fade as he gets to know her, and vice versa. They both struggle with health issues, whether that be mental or physical, and they find themselves madly in love even though it seems like the circumstances will rip them apart. Lots of drama, lots of laughs, steamy scenes, classism, family relationships, funny and charming side characters, and more. I really hope you enjoy this love story as much as I did while writing it.

This one is so simple, but I just love it. There are so many quotes and lines that stood out to me, but this one became their “thing” and I just love it. Oh, to be loved despite our flaws. It’s the best feeling.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

So many fun facts haha. Lots of googling was involved in the making of this story. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Spain a handful of times, but never Majorca. So, I did my best with the knowledge I had collected when it comes to food, weather, architecture, but I spent a lot of time researching Majorca specifically because it’s such a unique island. I got SO many food cravings! I even watched Tiktoks of people walking through the streets, reviewing foods and markets I wrote about, it was so fun. I also have a playlist for the book on my Spotify (Anna Todd) and in the front of the book ☺

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

For Julián, it’s her sarcasm, strength and that she breaks the stereotype he originally placed on her. Seeing the world through her eyes changes him, and the same goes for her.

Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?

Lots of them lol. I blushed during the steamy scenes, especially the first one. I cried a lot actually. The condition that Ry has is the same as my son’s, so there were many times that it hit a little too close to home for me and I found myself walking away (and crying) for a bit before coming back to it

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

Right now, I’m finishing up a novel that I haven’t announced yet and am currently in Production as a Producer for the film, Regretting You, based on a novel by Colleen Hoover. I’m also in post-production on the film Shiver, based on the novel by Maggie Stiefvater. I’ve been working on a lot of book to film projects lately and can’t wait to share even more ☺
