Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Paige Crutcher to HJ!
Hi Paige and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, The Lost Witch: A Novel!
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
THE LOST WITCH is the story of Brigid Heron, an Irish witch out of time who has lost the most precious thing in the world…if only she could remember what it was. She wakes a hundred years in the future, in her hometown which is now overrun by mythological monsters, with most of her memories gone. She teams up with two brilliant witches (who just so happen to be living in her home) and together they fight a coven of supremely creepy witches that have overtaken the healing lake and are using its power to free the monsters and try and turn the people of the town of Evermore into the Damned. Along the way, Brigid battles the leader of the coven, a demi-god, who holds the secrets to her lost memories, and just might also hold the key to her heart.

Clear blue skies framed the tall, sturdy white stone house like a crown sitting on top of the head of a forgotten queen.
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
The working title for this book was initially The Magic of Wise Women. It shifted and changed as I researched (of which there was a lot!). I was inspired by Ireland, by a month I spent there a decade ago when I needed healing, and how the country and its people and places changed my life.
What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?
There are several Brigid’s (and Biddy’s) in Irish history who were witches and were incredible, strong, powerful women. I am also greatly inspired by the Goddess Brigid and Saint Brigid and reading about all the Brigid’s inspired my own.
Knightly is as dangerous as he is sexy, and the thing he wants most in the world is love, and that to me is so relatable and true to many of us. He’s a bit of a monster, but he’s a beautiful one.
Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?
The end. I lost my mom before this book came out. She was diagnosed with cancer while I was writing it, and so a lot of the mother-daughter connections are me speaking to her, and eventually, me learning to let her go and knowing even though she isn’t on this earthly plain, she’s not lost to me.
Readers should read this book….
If they enjoy witches, magic, found family, Irish mythology, monsters, sexy and dangerous demigods, and love stories.
What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?
I’m finishing a revision on my next novel, due out next Fall. It’s about magic and the witch who goes to the ends of the world to save it.

Book Info:
Paige Crutcher, author of the “mystical, magical, and wildly original”* The Orphan Witch, weaves a spellbinding tale of contemporary fantasy, romance, and Irish mythology as a woman torn out of time faces a dangerous coven, otherworldly creatures, and a seductive demi-god to save the souls of a cursed island in The Lost Witch.
1922. The town of Evermore off the coast of Ireland is under the protection of a Goddess. She has bestowed power upon village healer Brigid Heron to ensure the heart of magic within the Lough of Brionglóid—the lake of dreams—remains untouched. For the witches of Knight want to absorb its powerful energies and release the Damned from the Otherworld. Brigid has devoted her whole life to being Evermore’s guardian, immersing herself in witchcraft, and sacrificing her own dreams. Until Luc Knightly, a trickster god with his own claim on the lough, offers Brigid her heart’s desire in exchange for betraying her Goddess’s trust.
2022. A century later, Evermore is under siege. The witches of Knight wield chaos magic, opening the rift between the island and the Otherworld wider every day. Beings born from folklore nightmares prey on the villagers, consuming their very humanity. Ophelia Gallagher, Brigid’s descendent, and her fellow witch Finola McEntire do their best to keep the monsters and mayhem at bay.
Brigid awakens in this world with no memory of how she traveled into the future, and why Evermore has been cursed. To seal the lough and stop the witches of Knight, she must work with Ophelia and Finola to help her remember the events of a hundred years ago. But the knowledge she seeks lies with Luc Knightly himself–mysterious, handsome, and powerful–and the one who once upon a time granted Brigid her dearest wish—a daughter.
To save Evermore, Brigid may have to lose her daughter—again…

The love of your life is worth waiting for no matter how long it takes. I re-met my high school friend after 7 years apart. (we only saw each other for a few hours over a couple days.) We realized we had a lot in common. It was 5 months before he came overseas to see me and proposed – we hadn’t even dated or seen each other after those few days. 3 months later I was back in the states and we were seeing each other every three weeks for a couple days – he was in Maine, I in NY. We got engaged and he left for 6 months in the Vietnam War. We go married when he got home and he was shipped back over 5 weeks later for another 6 months. There were 2 more 3 to 4 month deployments over the next 18 months. There have been other month or more separations over the past 50 years. It was all worth the time apart and I would have waited as long as it took. I still would.
