Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Lisa Renee Jones to HJ!
Hi Lisa and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, The Princess!
Hello!! I’m so happy to be back to celebrate my release of The Princess.
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
This is the second book in my Filthy Trilogy, in which Harper and Eric are the quintessential forbidden couple. This second book finds them battling their tortured pasts, and all of the secrets, lies, and danger his family has brought to their doorstep.
Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:
I want to be his woman. I want to be his everything. I want so much with this man that I can’t just let him go.
OR
“There is no end to today that doesn’t end with you naked in my arms when I tell you I love you again.”
OR
“I’m going to fuck you, lick you, and kiss you, again and again.” His fingers tangle in my hair, rough and erotic. “You’re never going to want to leave my bed. That’s a promise.”
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
- At one point I scrapped a good chunk of the book and started from scratch – though it wasn’t fun at the time, I like to think I improved upon the story greatly by doing that
- Eric and Harper have this cute scene with macaroni and cheese that stemmed from my love of the cheesy, pasta goodness – it’s a weakness!
- This was supposed to be the final book in this series, but when I got to the halfway point, I knew I would be doing a great disservice to Harper and Eric’s story and most of all my readers if I didn’t finish it the way I knew it had to be finished. I ended up making this book three books (The Empire , book three, will be out on March 12th) because I had to. There was so much left to explore and I didn’t want the ending of the book to be rushed.
What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?
This actually happens in book one, but it’s an insta-lust type situation that becomes complete infatuation on both of their parts. Eric is enamored by her emotional strength, what she’s been through, and the fact that he was so wrong about her originally, when he’s never wrong about anything. Harper is taken by his intensity, his need to protect her, and how he saved himself from his family once before – that past still haunting him to this day.
If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?
The one I shared below! It’s a very intense scene, and gets mega-sexy as it continues past where I stopped it. But the lead up to the sexy part is very much a turning point for the characters, in my opinion. There’s a lot going on around them, and yet, they have to take this moment to be THEM. To get characters that could convey the right emotions in that kind of scene would be paramount to casting.
Readers should read this book….
If they love sizzling romance and suspense! These two are running from danger, confronting their enemies, and falling in love at the same time!
What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?
I’m currently working on two projects! The third and final book of this series, THE EMPIRE, which will be out on March 12th. And the second project is The Truth About Cowboys – a sexy cowboy romance I’m writing for Entangled that is being publishing in mass market paperback and ebook in August!
Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from The Princess:
If I crumble, he’ll act out. He’ll lash out. He’ll protect me at all costs, and the costs could be too high. He’d do all this for me and that affects me on so many levels, in so many ways. No one but this man would do anything for me, and the fact that he would is a realization that warms me, but also comes with responsibility for how I affect his actions.
I’m suddenly ravenous to tear away Eric’s physical control, to find the man beneath all those emotions and all that powerful anger. Desperate to save him the way he saved me because I know no matter what his claim, he’d regret the actions he’s planned. He might be a genius, but he’s still just a man, and a man I want the chance to know; all of him, all of the broken, damaged pieces beneath his perfect surface. I’m not letting him out of this room until I know what is really in his head or until he at least promises me to wait to make any decision that doesn’t involve us naked in his bed.
I go to him and I don’t give him time to react, my hands catching at his waist. “You say I belong with you.”
“You do belong with me.” His tone is absolute, his voice and eyes pure steel.
“That means you belong with me.”
“Yes, Harper. It does.” He says those words without hesitation, his voice low, a raspy
hint to it, that says he’s affected and yet, he doesn’t touch me.
A charge hums from him, like a ball of anger spinning in the air, faster and faster until it combusts. Like years of anger and pain that have collided into this moment, this piece of time and I understand. He walked away. He made his own future and yet still they came for him—God, I came for him. They’ve pushed his limits and he needs to find them again.
I need to find them for him.
I drop to my knees and caress him. He wants me. He needs me like he did on the plane and I believe now that he just needs a release. He needs to fuck or be fucked. No. He needs to take and I need to give.
“What are you doing, Harper?”
“Giving you a reason to stay in this room with me.” I reach for his belt and tug it free. He catches my shoulders, touching me, finally. God, I didn’t know how much I needed him to touch me, to prove to me that he’s here, he’s still in this room with me. “People are waiting on us,” he warns, staring down at me, his eyes hooded, heavy.
“They’ll wait,”

Lately, my go-to snack has been these 90 calorie brownie bars that come in a variety of flavors. They satisfy my sweet-tooth, with none of the guilt.

I’m afraid that a snack would only make me focus on the snack. Best not to snack when I need to concentrate.
