Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Bethany Lopez to HJ!
Hi Bethany and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Too Dangerous!
Hello! I’m so excited to be here!
To start off, can you please tell us a little bit about this book?:
Too Dangerous is the fifth and final book in my Lewis Cousins Series. Each book is about a different cousin, and can be read as a stand alone. In Too Dangerous, Jasmine Lewis is a tough, loyal, and very single woman, while Shane is an easy going Aussie who appears to be all about fun. A marriage of convenience brings these two together.
Please share your favorite lines or quote(s) from this book:
If I wasn’t careful, I’d go against every rule I’d ever had about Shane, because, right now, he seemed like the kind of man who’d make a woman a rule breaker.
I can’t spend another day in this house with you if you’re not mine.
I’ve never been in a relationship, not one that had any chance of going anywhere. The truth is, I’ve always kept myself guarded, because it always seemed like everyone who wanted to get close to me, had ulterior motives.
What inspired this book?
- Aussie men are hot
- I love a strong independent woman
- Family drama and small towns
- I love the movie The Proposal
How did you ‘get to know’ your main characters? Did they ever surprise you?
We first meet Jasmine in book 1, Too Tempting, and Shane in book 2, Too Complicated. I fell for Shane harder than I knew I would originally. He became someone I was really rooting for.
What was your favorite scene to write?
The scene where Shane tells Jazzy Australian “dirty” words.
“So … yes, I remember, a pash is a kiss.”
“Not just any kiss. One that’s slow, long, passionate…”
“Hmm, I think you should show me.”
I bit my lip, worried he’d tell me to lay down and go to sleep again, but instead his thumb moved up to pull my lip from my teeth and he replaced it with his mouth.
Boy-o-boy, he wasn’t kidding. Shane took his time, teasing me playfully before deepening the kiss and making me feel it all the way to my toes.
“Yum, show me more,” I pleaded when he broke the kiss.
What was the most difficult scene to write?
There weren’t actually any difficult scenes in this one.
It took me a while to write the book because when I made Shane Australian in book 2, I didn’t know he’d get his own full book. When I realized he was for Jasmine, I was intimidated to write an Australian character, because I wanted to make sure I got him right.
Would you say this book showcases your writing style or is it a departure for you?
Definitely.
What do you want people to take away from reading this book?
I hope they get swept up in the romance and enjoy both Jasmine and Shane’s journey.
What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have planned?
Up next is the first in a new series. It is called, Frat House Confessions: Ridge, and features characters that were introduced in other books. So, a sort of spin-off series, set in college.
Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from Too Dangerous:
“You’re staring again,” Rena repeated, then laughed. “You don’t have to look so guilty, I stare at Jed like that all the time, especially when he’s working in his studio. He’s yours now, look all you want. Hell, you’re newlyweds, why don’t you go ahead and touch.”
She threw that down like a gauntlet, knowing I loved nothing more than a challenge.
Okay, I thought, using the fact that we needed to provide plenty of PDA to hold up the charade. Challenge accepted.
I gave her a confident smile and said, “Don’t mind if I do.”
I tossed my gloves down on the ground and stood. Gabe hired landscapers to do most of the work at the camp, but Rena had decided the counselors’ cabins needed more color, so we were currently planting flowers in pots to brighten things up.
Her artist’s eye just couldn’t allow a drab backdrop.
My eyes on the prize, I sauntered over to where the guys were working. Shane and Gabe were chopping firewood, while Jed was sanding down benches. I wasn’t sure where Dillon and Reardon were.
Leaves and sticks crunched beneath my sneakers, signaling my approach.
Shane paused, his ax dangling from one hand, and turned to watch me stalk toward him.
“Hey,” he managed, swiping his brow with the back of his hand, but that was all he got out before I put one hand on his abs and the other around the back of his neck.
I saw his eyes flare, before I closed mine and captured his lips.
It only took him a second to get on board, his free arm coming around my waist and pulling me closer. I couldn’t stop the small moan from escaping from between our lips as I opened my mouth and melted against him.
I didn’t care that it was hot and he was sweaty.
I didn’t care that my cousins and our friends were getting a free show.
All I cared about was the taste of him on my tongue and the way the hard length of him felt against my body.
When I broke the kiss, eyes still closed and struggling to catch my breath, Shane dropped a kiss on my nose and I smiled.
“That was nice,” he said, his tone soft, gruff.
I opened my eyes and looked up at him, keeping my expression light and flirty, even though it felt like there was a riot in my veins.
“I was thirsty,” I replied.
Shane’s eyes widened briefly, then he gave me a sexy grin.
“Well, that was certainly more satisfying than water.”

Book Info:
Jasmine Lewis has tried, and failed, to ignore local Australian bartender, Shane, who’s in Cherry Springs while working on his master’s.
She’s kept him at arm’s length, fearing the passion he ignites when nearby, but he does his best to remind her of what she’s missing.
Now school’s out and he’ll have to leave. Will a marriage of convenience give them what the both want?
