Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Victoria Schade to HJ!
Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Victoria and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, UNLEASHED HOLIDAY!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

Unleashed Holiday is an enemies to lovers romance about two people who have to learn to how to get past their preconceived notions about one another in order to figure out that the last person they want is the exact person they need.

Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:

My jacket was the only thing between his fingertips and the sensitive skin of my wrist, a berm between the ceasefire we’d agreed to and the sexy, angry heat we’d made together so many years ago.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

  • I love the research phase of all of my books, but I have to admit that doing hands-on goat behavior research for Unleashed Holiday at a local farm is tough to beat. Goats are so incredibly silly and cool! (And adorable!)
  • Another fun part of my research was chatting with a personal trainer to get insights into the profession. I wound up working out with him for a year!
  • I had a tough time coming up with this title because the book includes all of the holidays from Halloween through Christmas … I didn’t want it to be Christmas specific.
  • The father dynamic was swapped when I was first plotting the book, but my husband (my uncredited co-writer) suggested what ended up being a much better version of the story. (I always tap him for insights during long car trips.)
  • I wrote much of this book during the summer but I kept a holiday candle burning to get me in the right headspace. I plan to do a giveaway with my favorite holiday candle soon!

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

My heroine had conflicting feelings for the hero … he’s obviously incredibly good looking, so there’s that, but since she skews introvert she also envies his confidence and ability to win over everyone he meets. As for what attracted the hero to her … well, that might be a spoiler!

Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?

Oh my gosh, I always get emotionally involved when I write! I cry when I get to the love confessional part of the story because it feels so good for these characters I adore to finally start their HEA!

“There’s something else we need to talk about, if we’re going to figure all of this out,” he said softly.
An ember started to singe inside my chest. Andrew wanted to revisit the past. It felt like we were heading in the right direction, so why would he want to pile on old hurts?

Readers should read this book….

…if they want to immerse themselves in a story that delivers all of the holiday feels. There are plenty of lighthearted laughs along with some deeper family dramas, and a happily ever after that brings it all together with the help of some dogs and goats!

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

I’m hard at work on a story that has consumed me for a while – it’s truly one of those books that I have to write, with some unique and topical themes. It’s a grumpy-sunshine story set in the wedding industry, and for a change it has a title already! (I’m usually terrible at titles!)

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Book Info:

When an old rival reappears right before the holidays, a professional dog trainer must decide if the melting frost between them can make up for their ruff past, from the USA Today bestselling author of Dog Friendly.

Chelsea Higgins is doing just fine. She’s heading into the holidays at the helm of a thriving dog training business, and she’s got a mellow senior dog at home to keep her warm at the end of the day. What more could she need? Enter certified gym bro Andrew Gibson: Chelsea’s former nemesis, and now the newest neighbor in her business complex, who also wants to expand into the vacant space Chelsea’s been eyeing for months. Who cares if it’s the season of joy? Let the turf war begin.

When an unfortunate (and literal) run-in with Andrew’s lawless dog leaves Chelsea with a bum wrist, the two strike a deal: Andrew will help Chelsea rehab the injury if she’ll work with him to train his adorably uncivilized boxer.

Their typical bickering soon turns to bantering, and Chelsea finds herself inexplicably drawn to the man she thought she had nothing in common with. As she gets to know Andrew and his parents, she realizes she needs to refocus on her own family, especially with a milestone Christmas speeding toward them. But Chelsea can’t help wondering if she and Andrew are training for keeps, or if this unexpected Christmas gift is just too good to be true.

Meet the Author:

If we’re talking about Christmas, I start thinking about it in July. I try to start shopping in October. Decorations go up in early November.

  2. Glenda M

I think the Holiday season starts with Halloween. We need time to focus on Thanksgiving and then all the other holidays that follow

  3. Linda F Herold

My birthday is November 17th, so I think it should start after Thanksgiving!

  4. Patricia B.

For me it starts Oct. 1. We have many Fall festivals here, Halloween is on the way, then Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is 3 months of preparations and celebration.
