Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Erin Marsh to HJ!
Hi Erin and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Wild Cowboy Country!
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
Passionate ranger, Lacey Montgomery will do anything to protect the Mexican gray wolf population at her national park, even crawl into a collapsing cave to save a litter of pups. Clay Stevens will sacrifice everything to save his late grandfather’s cattle ranch and keep the animals under his care safe, including taking on the town darling, Lacey. The two clash over the reintroduction of the subspecies, especially when the pack keeps showing up on Clay’s property. But when Clay’s wayward nephew accidently triggers the cave-in that endangers the wolf pups and Lacey is injured saving them, the two former enemies find themselves working together. On leave from work due to a concussion, Lacey volunteers at a small local zoo where Clay’s nephew is performing community service. As Clay and Lacey’s lives intertwine, they discover that they may have more similarities than differences, including a passion for the wonderful biodiversity of the American Southwest. But as they grow closer, an increase of wolf sightings on Clay’s ranch threaten to drive them apart again…but Lacey begins to wonder if another, more human, force is at work. Can the two settle their differences and discover the truth, both about the wolves and about their own hearts?
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
I am not exactly sure if these are all “fun”, but they are interesting:
- The heroine’s post-concussion syndrome (or a concussion that lasts for a period of months or even over a year) was initially based on a brain injury that I suffered in 2011.
- In the middle of writing the book, I suffered another concussion, and many of the physical symptoms Lacey experiences are mine.
- The fictional national park in the book is based on a composite of real ones that I have visited from Bryce Canyon (my absolute favorite) to Navajo National Monument to Grand Staircase-Escalante. In the weeks leading up to and after my release, I will be sharing photos that inspired me on my social media accounts.
What do you want people to take away from reading this book?
I’d like readers to take away how love, compassion, and mutual support can help promote healing and strength.
Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Book Info:
Who has more right to the land?
Park ranger Lacey Montgomery and rancher Clay Stevens are on opposite sides of a thorny issue. Lacey has spent her career reintroducing wolves to Rocky Ridge National Park and now oversees the welfare of the pack. Clay has struggled for years to make a success of the historic ranch he inherited and is tired of losing his calves to predators.
When Clay’s teenage nephew and his friends carelessly endanger a wild wolf and her pups, Clay and Lacey’s lives collide. They shouldn’t be so attracted to each other—she’s a hometown girl beloved in the community, while he’s still regarded as a city-slicker interloper. But Clay’s piercing blue eyes make Lacey’s pulse race, and her sweet face and kissable lips are drawing him under her spell, much as he tries to resist…
Opposites attract, but the terrain between them is awfully rough…

They likely get each other to see things the way they do and the need to work out a compromise so they both get fair treatment for their interests. By seeing each other in different situations, they appreciate each other as people with strengths and valid feelings.
