Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Tessa Bailey to HJ!
Hi Tessa and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, WRECK THE HALLS!
Hello readers! Looking to get into the holiday spirit and have your funny bone tickled? Look no further. Wreck the Halls is here…and it’s ready to put you on the naughty list.
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
Wreck the Halls is a holiday romantic comedy—Beat and Melody, the children of two famous rock stars have been offered a million dollars to reunite the band by Christmas Eve. There’s only one catch, the whole adventure will be live streamed. Oh and…they’re soul mates who can’t keep their hands off each other but there’s a secret lurking in the wings threatening to keep them apart. Hello blackmailer…!
Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:
“There’s no Beat without a Melody.”
“Of all the privileges I never feel like I’ve earned, you’re going to be the ultimate one, aren’t you?”
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
- Stevie Nicks makes an appearance as the “fun aunt” who blesses the bellies of Beat and Melody’s mothers while they were in the womb. And there is a brawl involving three Santa Clauses that results in jail time for one of the characters.
- Here is a link to the Spotify playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3elBMtr7jRvOQtN5SSwMS7
- The working title was: REUNION.
- Most of the research I did was into reality television and what the rules/parameters are for filming in public and how that works legally!
What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?
The first thing that attracts my hero to the heroine is usually her eyes/something about her physical appearance, but then it’s quickly followed by an aspect of her personality. Usually, she says something funny or thoughtful that triggers something in his brain that she is different and interesting. Or he finds himself being unexpectedly protective. Vice versa, my heroines are usually drawn to the hero’s vibe. He makes her feel safe, right away. That’s a big thing for me.
Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?
There is a scene that takes place on an airplane where Melody has just found out that Beat likes to have pleasure withheld (also known as edging). So she sits on his lap and edges him until he’s ready to blow. It’s a lot of fun… (excerpt below)
Readers should read this book….
…because it’s a heartfelt romance full of holiday magic and characters with real issues, but it never stops being fun and sexy. Also, read it for the rock star mothers who were inspired by Posh Spice and Courtney Love. It’s the Parent Trap meets Daisy Jones.
What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?
I’m kicking off a new sports series in February with Fangirl Down and I’m so excited about it. A grumpy golfer on his way out and the sunshine caddy who refuses to let him quit—or quit on him. It’s possibly my favorite book I’ve written.
Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from Wreck the Halls:
“Maybe. Maybe not.” Melody shifted their hips, slowly turning in his lap until she was facing the front of the plane. She looked back at him over her shoulder and gave a slow roll of her lower body, memorizing the way his eyes darkened. “Are you going to let us find out?”
They remained there for several moments, Melody rocking in his lap, his chest rising and falling with more and more urgency. That battle between yes and no still waging itself on his handsome face. Until finally his right arm shot out, banding around her collarbone and drawing her back firmly to his chest. “Do you think I have a choice when I grow more obsessed with you by the fucking minute?” He sunk his teeth into her ear, reached for the coat draped on the seat beside him and covered them with it hastily, hiding their actions from view. “You made it hard, now grind on it. Tease me. Give me that good pain.” Beneath the coat, his big hands palmed her breasts, teasing the buds in the center with his thumbs. “I want to be the one hurting, Mel. But God, I don’t want to hurt you…”
Him stroking her nipples was making her anxious, desperate for friction. The importance of his words sunk into her subconscious to be unearthed and studied later, but just then, all she could do was embrace the new, exciting power tripping through her bloodstream. All she could do was give their needs a dose of oxygen and she did that by sinking down low against the V of his thighs, then riding back up, roughly, his strangled groan raising goosebumps on her skin. “Is that what you like?”

Book Info:
#1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey delivers a sexy, hilarious standalone holiday rom-com about the adult children of two former rock stars who team up to convince their estranged mothers to play a Christmas Eve concert…
Melody Gallard may be the daughter of music royalty, but her world is far from glamorous. She spends her days restoring old books and avoiding the limelight (one awkward tabloid photo was enough, thanks). But when a producer offers her a lot of money to reunite her mother’s band on live tv, Mel begins to wonder if it’s time to rattle the cage, shake up her quiet life… and see him again. The only other person who could wrangle the rock and roll divas.
Beat Dawkins, the lead singer’s son, is Melody’s opposite—the camera loves him, he could charm the pants off anyone, and his mom is not a potential cult leader. Still, they might have been best friends if not for the legendary feud that broke up the band. When they met as teenagers, Mel felt an instant spark, but it’s nothing compared to the wild, intense attraction that builds as they embark on a madcap mission to convince their mothers to perform one last show.
While dealing with rock star shenanigans, a 24-hour film crew, brawling Santas, and mobs of adoring fans, Mel starts to step out of her comfort zone. With Beat by her side, cheering her on, she’s never felt so understood. But Christmas Eve is fast approaching, and a decades-old scandal is poised to wreck everything—the Steel Birds reunion, their relationships with their mothers, and their newfound love.

Hooked By That Book
I have this book on my list to read. As for a Christmas tradition, I don’t know. From looking at people’s pictures I always think the whole matching pajama thing looks nice, but my family’s tastes vary too much, it won’t work as well.
