Into the Blue by Chanel Cleeton: Eric, aka Thor, found himself when he joined the military Into the Bluand became a F-16 fighter pilot. He’s spent the last 10 years in the military proving himself and getting the adrenaline high of flying with the other pilots who have become his family. But he still remembers what he gave up to get to where he is. Even though a decade has past, he still can’t let go of the girl he had to leave behind.

Becca has the job she’s always wanted as a lawyer where she can pursue justice, even though it doesn’t always work out the way it should. She’s got the job, great friends, and a home in the only place she’s ever wanted to live. The only thing she’s missing is the husband and kids. She’s dated over the years, but nothing has lived up to what she shared with her ex-fiancé.

Becca is shocked to run into Eric on a girls night out. She’s heard about him over the years and knows that he’s stationed in Oklahoma. After 10 years without any contact, she’s not ready to see him again or experience his impact on her. With the disaster at the bar, both are left unsure but knowing that the attraction is still there.

“Why are you back? Why here? Why now?” I struggled to keep my voice calm, realizing I likely failed miserably. I’d needed time to deal with the friend request-hot yoga or no, this was beyond my ability to be Zen.
“I needed a break from work. Things were bad. I needed to sort everything out.”
“And you thought you could do that here?”

Eric is really struggling with some things and he takes a much-needed break. His only thought is to go home and return to the one person he still needs. Becca is less than thrilled to see him yet again. She doesn’t want to revisit their past, but both need to reconnect on some level. Eric shows her just how much he has changed and sets out get her back. It’s all or nothing for them as they quickly fall back into a relationship.

“Why don’t you get back to the pancakes and I’ll hang out with Dylan? You’re channeling ghost more than dragon right now anyway.”
Her eyes narrowed into slits. “How about now?”
I grinned. “Well, you got the fire-breathing part down. Nicely done.”

Into the Blue is an entertaining, sexy second chance story that keeps you turning the pages trying to figure out if these two can ever get past the obstacles in front of them. Chanel Cleeton created great characters who you want to get to know and look forward to revisiting. Ms. Cleeton leaves you wanting more and anxious for the next book in the series. Into the Blue can be read as a standalone, but elements of the story do pick up from a key event in the first book in this series. Fans of Jeanette Murray and Karen Erickson will enjoy Into the Blue.
