Playing Dirty by C.L. Parker is fun, sexy, and unpredictable. I’m a big fan of the Playing-Dirtyenemies to lovers trope and C.L. Parker nailed it!

Shaw Matthews and Cassidy Whalen are the best of the best. They excel at their jobs and are the best sports agents on the market. When quarterback Denver Rockford decides he needs new representation, Shaw and Cassidy go head to head to win this guy over. Each of them has something to prove and they both need this win.

Cassidy is a man-eater. She’s determined, smart, and out to prove she belongs at the top. I adored Cassidy. She’s is one of my favorite heroines ever. She doesn’t let Shaw run the show and refuses to stand down like the other women he’s encountered. She plans to put him in his place and grab Denver as a client in the process.

Shaw is cunning, controlling, and uses whatever or whoever he can to win. Cassidy is the only person who has been able to get under his skin…and she does it so well. The more they fight the hotter the attraction. They can only deny it for so long before it becomes uncontrollable. And once they give in to their attraction, don’t expect flowers and declarations of love.

“I was drunk. Everything looks bigger through beer goggles.”

The competition between Shaw and Cassidy is fiercer than ever and they both plan to do anything they can to land the quarterback and even though they give in to their urges, they refuse to let the other person have the upper hand. Their chemistry is raw and inhibited.

The longer they spend time connecting, the more they find out about each other. Shaw calls Cassidy out on her actions and Cassidy realizes Shaw’s life is one big act. He pretends to be something he’s not and she starts to see Shaw in a different light, but when all is said and done, who will get the contract?

I highly recommend this book if you love the enemies to lovers trope or just want to read a sexually charged, witty story with competitive characters. The secondary characters added to the story and provided for good entertainment, as well! This book does end on a cliffhanger, but the next book in this series is already out, so once you read this one, you can move on to the next book!
