Proposal at the Winter Ball by Jessica Gilmore: Do we make too much of what other Proposal-at-the-Winter-Ballpeople tell us? Do we start believing we are who they think we are, other than who we actually are?

Flora Prosperine Buckingham has become one of those people. She can’t trust herself to do anything. She has to do what others tell her, follow the paths that they put her on. It doesn’t seem to matter that she’s not happy or not even doing all that well. Flora wants to please others, especially her family so that is what she is going to do.

Alex Fitzgerald to has elements of trying to please others, or at least in believing what they say of him. That hasn’t stopped him from being successful mind you, but it has stopped him from being happy. He only has one person he can really count on and really be free with, hiding only two things from, his best friend in the whole world, Flora.

When Alex finally convinces Flora to help him with some interior designs he really isn’t sure what he is getting into. She’s his best friend, so what can happen, right? Then throw in a romantic hotel, liquor and a “helpful” boss and everything can change with one little kiss.

Ms. Gilmore has given her readers an interesting Christmas story. This is actually a really wonderful trope that I don’t see much in the like a brother category. The dynamics are great giving the complicated nature of the relationship she set up. It’s not just these two it’s a larger family without either of the two main characters having kids. The settings that are described are amazing and may have you wanting to hop a flight to Austria.

Overall Proposal at the Winter Ball by Jessica Gilmore is a feel good romance with an unexpected twist and a lot of healing.
