Second Chance at Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer is the third book in the Two Love Lane series, each about the women who co-own the matchmaking service Two Love Lane. Each of the women have their own reasons for finding love for others, but feel there isn’t anyone out there for themselves. For Ella, her dream had been to make it big in Hollywood, only when the role of a lifetime was offered to her, she turned it down because her boyfriend, a struggling actor, was having trouble landing roles. But when he gets a chance to make it big, he left Ella behind in the dust, without looking back.

Hank regrets how he left things with Ella, so when he gets the chance to act in a movie being filmed in Charleston, he jumps on it. He even gets Ella a small role in it. Ella’s determined to keep some distance between them, but Hank is determined to close the distance and prove to Ella that things will be different the second time around.

I’ve enjoyed the Two Love Lane series, and this book is no exception. The characters are well-written, the chemistry between Ella and Hank is amazing, and I enjoyed that readers once again get to witness the matchmaking of Two Love Lane ladies. It was entertaining to watch Samantha, the lead actress in the movie, get into the role as matchmaker as well, only her efforts were focused on Hank and Ella.

My only complaint was that I thought Ella forgave Hank a little too quickly for the way he dumped her orginally, especially considering he went on to be a big star, while she gave up her opportunity for him. Hank’s reasoning for leaving her behind was somewhat weak, considering he knew what she gave up for him.

If you’ve enjoyed the previous books in the series, you won’t want to miss this one. For those who haven’t read the prior books, don’t worry, this can be read as a standalone. I would recommend it to any reader who enjoys a second chance romance.

In her professional career, Ella Mancini plays matchmaker at Two Love Lane but, in her personal life, she takes the stage at the Dock Street Theatre. Now she has a chance at a new role in a Hollywood movie that happens to be filming in Charleston—one that features a big-name actress, Samantha Drake. Long ago, Ella passed up a major audition while awaiting a marriage proposal. Not only didn’t she get the role; she never got the ring, either. Instead, her boyfriend Hank went on to become a huge film star…leaving her, and all her dreams, behind.
But now Hank’s back in Charleston, cast as the male lead in the same movie Ella’s in. In spite of the dramatic tension off-screen, he and Ella try to stay cool onset. But when their old feelings start to heat up—at the same time leading-lady Samantha tries to play cupid—all bets are off. How can Hank convince Ella, after all this time, that she’s the one he really wants to be with in real life—and that some happy, rom-com endings really can come true?
