Three-PromisesThree Promises: The Billionaire Brothers by Lily Everett is actually comprised of three previously released novellas: The Fireside Inn, Bonfire Beach, and Lantern Lake. The novellas are centered around Miles, who gives his three friends, Leo, Zane, and Cooper, jobs to do to get his wedding ready. He also makes a friendly bet with them–the one who goes to Sanctuary Island and leaves single will win Miles’s custom helicopter and his prime landing spot at the Biltmore Club.

The Fireside Inn is Leo’s story. Leo is charged with doing a reading at the ceremony, only Miles doesn’t know the secret his friend’s been hiding–he doesn’t know how to read. Leo enlists the help of Sanctuary Island’s librarian, Serena, to find the perfect poem to read, only he keeps his secret from her, too. Serena, for her part, makes no secret that she wants to use Leo’s connections to gain financial support for the struggling library.

Bonfire Beach is Zane’s story. He’s tasked with helping Felicity plan the wedding reception. Zane, who owned music venues around the country, butted heads with Felicity about everything from the decorations, the music, and the location of the reception. What puzzles Felicity is his reluctance to even step foot on the beach, let alone acknowledge it was the best location and the one that would make the couple happy.

Lantern Lake is Cooper’s story. Cooper is responsible for planning the honeymoon. Whereas the previous two stories had couples put together to accomplish their tasks, Cooper is different. Instead, Miles tries to play matchmaker by pairing Cooper up in the wedding party with his ex, Vivian. At one point Cooper had planned on marrying Vivian, but on the day they were supposed to elope, she never showed up. Cooper harbors a lot of a anger and pain over what happened, and Vivian is determined to have him hear her side of the story. When what was supposed to be one night of revenge sex turns into more, Cooper has to decide if he can move on and forgive Vivian.

All three guys dealt with pain and tragedy in their own ways, and as a reader you can’t help but feel bad for the things they were dealing with. I also found myself feeling bad for Vivian. While Cooper thought she was off living a happy life without him, she had been trapped in a loveless marriage and dealing with parents who only saw her as a means to an end.

Miles was a character introduced in the Billionaire Brothers series. Not having read that series, I’ll admit I’m curious about him. He genuinely wants his three friends to be happy, and while the three men think they’re hiding their secrets, it seems like Miles may actually know more about them than they thought.

While the stories are short, they move at a good pace and provide enough information about the characters for a reader to actually care about them. I also liked how all three of the stories seamlessly intertwined with one another.

If you enjoy novellas about men finding unexpected love, you might enjoy the stories in this book. I would recommend giving it a read.

Leo, Zane, and Cooper made a pact to stay bachelors and enjoy the single life forever, and when they receive an invitation to their friend Miles’ wedding, they head down to Sanctuary Island determined to talk some sense into the errant groom before he makes a life-changing mistake. But Miles knows his own mind, and he makes a vow of his own: before he walks down the aisle, he’ll have Leo, Zane, and Cooper changing their tune about matrimony. Because Miles knows, better than anyone, that all it takes is a little Sanctuary Island magic to turn romantic cynics into true believers.

You’re welcome! I like novellas for the same reason, except I often find myself wishing they were longer. 🙂

This was my first time reading anything by her and I liked it. I might go back and read the stories about Miles and his brothers.
