She finds escapism in her correspondence with her favorite fantasy author, until he ghosts her without a word. Months later, she’s trying to move on, starting with finding a date to her sister’s wedding. And the perfect person to help her is Nick, her attractive new neighbor… who just happens to be her favorite fantasy author.

Ana Maria quickly catches the eye of Gideon Fox, who has elevated himself as a member of Parliament with the goal of abolishing the Atlantic slave trade. When Ana Maria is caught in the crosshairs of a nefarious nobleman with his own political agenda, Gideon knows he must offer her his hand as protection, but will he lose his heart in the process?
