A Mistletoe Kiss In Manhattan by Traci Douglass: ER Nurse Emma Trudeau has been chosen at 
her hospital to work on special Wish project for a child in Pediatric ICU. She has to choose a co-chair. Her colleagues thinks she is crazy when she decides to ask a brilliant surgeon, Thad Markson. Everyone knows him as a grinch. Thad says no way at first, but Emma eventually wears him down. It still isn’t easy to get him going on vendors and venues for the carnival she wants to plan.
The reason for Thad’s grumpy attitude toward Christmas is slowly revealed. Emma has a more positive attitude even though she has had some difficulty getting to where she is today. When Emma visits Thad’s home she sees that he is deeply attached to Everett who is more than just a butler. Can helping a sick child bring Thad out of his reclusive shell?
I loved Emma from the start. She cares deeply for her younger sister and her patients. It was harder to relate to Thad until later when more of his background came to light.
It encourages me when I read more multi-culture stories such a this lovely, uplifting novel. The setting in Manhattan works quite well for the narrative arc, but I know I could never live there. The author’s research made the medical parts very authentic and realistic. I have grown very fond of Harlequin Medical Romances. Traci Douglass does a masterful job in writing a tale that is charming. She is a new to me author, but I hope to read her future works soon.
