Bring Me to Life by Kira Sinclair: Tatum Huntley had a rough childhood, made rougher by losing her mother and then her father. There was a Bring-Me-to-Lifebright spot though, her marriage to the love of her life. Then she received word that he too had been taken from her and so she buried him as well. That was three years and a lifetime ago. Tatum had started over, in a new town, with new friends, a new job and a new life. Now it was only sometimes that the quiet overtook her.

Evan Huntley had been “dead” for three years. Driving apart a drug cartel was hard and gory work, but someone needed to do it. Someone needed to stop the drugs from infiltrating the US. So he continued his work for three years until he was able to help the cartel come down. By then all he wanted was to come home, be human and be with his wife.

One night Tatum looks out and sees him, the ghost of a man. Her husband was back some how some way. Three years is a long time though and while many things had changed the biggest question left to answer was had too much changed or would they realize a love even stronger today than it was or could have been three years ago?

Ms. Sinclair has taken us back to Sweetheart in this novel that combines intrigue, romance and some action as well. It’s fascinating and deals with something that not many romance novels do, PTSD. The affects of the devastating disease on not just the person who fights the “battles” but the person who sees and deals with things on the home front as well. This is more than a quick love story its about the changes that happen over time, the fears and the reality of loving a military man not to mention a young love that withstands not just the test of time but the test of separation and fear as well.

Subject: Evan Huntley, Special Ops

Status: Believed to have been killed in action…until now!

Three years is a long time. Long enough for Tatum Huntley to leave heartbreak behind for the idyllic town of Sweetheart, South Carolina. Long enough to start over. Yet not long enough to forget the devastation left behind when he died. Her husband. The man whose touch haunts her… And the man who just walked back into her life.

All Evan Huntley wants is to get the woman he loves back in his arms…and his bed. While her love for him never died, Tatum can’t—and won’t—forgive Evan for letting her believe he was dead. For leaving her alone. But can she resist giving in to the exquisite passion that still burns between them?

Thanks for the review, Valerie. I was iffy about this book because it was rated low in RT BookReviews magazine, but it really sounded like something I’d enjoy. I’ve added it to my wish list after seeing your review. 🙂
