Cole’s Redemption (Alpha Pack #5) by J.D. Tyler: Cole’s Redemption starts off at an accelerated pace. After a brief introduction, we are swept immediately into the on-going battle between rogue vampires and the Alpha Pack. This series focuses heavily on the bonds of brotherhood; this theme is prominent throughout. Zander Cole, a black wolf shifter, is an original member of Alpha Pack; he is gifted with the ability to heal others. 
Unfortunately, during their last skirmish he sustained head trauma that resulted in a brain injury combined with severe hearing loss. Unable to heal himself he is now a liability to his teammates on the battlefield. Refusing to become a burden, he has made the decision to split from the team. He is lost in thought when he witnesses a solid white wolf ambush his commander. Loyalty demands he defend Nick with his life but, he quickly discovers he is unable to deliver the deathblow.
I was not fond of the female protagonist, Selene Westfall, her character seemed like a piece of driftwood floating down stream. The author portrays her as this strong, independent, vengeful female but, she is not quite able to live up to that role. The most enjoyable thing about her character is her unwavering support of Zan.
Although, the mating between Zan and Selene was quick and uneventful – the author makes it up to them by allowing them to slowly fall in love. I especially enjoyed the glimpses of those feelings developing throughout the book; it is subtle and realistic. Also, the author sprinkled passion sex scenes throughout the book. I got the feeling that those moments were written to express desire and passion…not to fill pages. One small warning, there is a sex scene between them in partly shifted form – this is off-putting to some readers, so I thought I should mention it.
Recommended to any/all paranormal romance readers. This can be read as a stand-alone but, there are things from previous installments that I felt contributed to this story.
