Command Control (Uniformly Hot) by Sara Jane Stone is truly an original romance between an Army Ranger and an author of erotica. This unique combination of character occupations develops beautifully into a hot, engrossing novel. After reading a couple of Ms. Stone’s earlier books, I find her to be an extremely talented author with a logical, succinct, and well thought-out writing style.

CcoSexy U.S. Army Ranger Logan Reed is home on leave to regroup and get his personal life back in order. Over a year ago, he lost his wife to cancer and even though their marriage was on the rocks, the grief he feels continues to overwhelm him from time to time. During his last mission in Afghanistan, he helped rescue three women, but do to his grief, he also got distracted which caused one of his teammates to get shot in the shoulder. The small town in Vermont that he calls home believes him to be a hero, although he does not feel that way. Logan loves his job and can’t wait to get back to it, that is until he meets and spends time with the new renter of his Aunt’s guest cottage.

Sadie Bannerman in one hot redhead with a really good heart. As a successful, yet anonymous erotic book author, she makes plenty of money that she gives earnestly to her retired dad and unemployed twin sister. Now that her sister and brother-in-law are expecting, Sadie temporarily relocates to Vermont in order to be with them during this special time. She and Logan end up in the same bookstore and instantaneously, there are amazing sparks.

Logan and Sadie are an extremely intriguing couple. They are both doing their best to lay low for the short-term, so hanging out together fits their temporary lifestyles perfectly.

I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to read Ms. Stone’s debut novel, Command Performance, and I must say that this sequel is just as good as the original. Command Control had just the right balance of passion, conflict and sensuality to hold my interest for long periods of time. In fact, I was able to read this book from cover to cover in less than a day. Logan and Sadie are well-defined, likeable and engaging characters. Ms. Stone was able to present their ecstasy, skepticism and angst with remarkable naturalness. Although Logan had his moments, Sadie is the primary alpha in this story, which is an interesting twist to the norm. Overall, a well-written book that is worth checking out.
