In Contracted to Her Greek Enemy by Annie West, Stephanie Logan and Damen Nicolaides didn’t necessarily get off on the best foot when they met. It’s a long story, but suffice to say Steph doesn’t want anything to do with the billionaire if she can help it. Although when her finances put her and her beloved grandmother in a bind, she has to think hard about an offer Damen extends to her. Two million dollars would almost be worth pretending to be his girlfriend. But Steph is afraid that the heat she feels between them will be given room to grow if they spend extra time together. And after being burned before, she’s not sure she’s willing to risk her heart again.

‘Even knowing this was a charade, it was hard not to respond to the evocative tenderness of his touch and the hint of blatant possessiveness.’

An addictive blend of sweepingly tender, romantic moments and fiery, antagonistic dialogue, Contracted to Her Greek Enemy captured my heart from page one. Author Annie West certainly knew what she was doing when she paired up these two passionate people who clashed as often as their attraction sizzled between them. Basically a fake relationship trope, Stephanie and Damen made an entertaining couple as they fought against their inevitable union, thanks to bad blood between them from an event in their recent past. And West gave us the perfect setting for this romance as well: Greece. The art, the history, the food, and lovely scenes set on the ocean, it was a wonderful backdrop which added to the feeling of love in the air for Damen and Steph.

I think what I enjoyed most about this story was that both Stephanie and Damen had spirit. She was a firecracker who wasn’t afraid to call him on his actions or misjudgements. And he fought passionately for what he wanted and what he believed to be right. Of course there was a bit of miscommunication between them. But Damen and Steph were rather quick to try to right things when they realized they were wrong, which was great. West also did a terrific job building the emotions in their love scenes and their stolen moments together. It was sigh-worthy and will be, I think, just what Harlequin fans look for in romance today.

“I wouldn’t date you for a million dollars.”

“How about two million?”

Stephanie Logan would love to throw Damen Nicolaides’s outrageous proposal that she pose as his girlfriend back in his face, but the truth is she needs his money to save her family.

The arrogant Greek seduced and discarded her once before, so Steph makes sure their contract says Damen can’t kiss her again! But she might soon regret that clause. Because trapped in paradise with her enemy, his all-too-potent chemistry is pushing her ever closer to breaking point!
