Corner Office Confessions (The Kane Heirs #1) by Cynthia St. Aubin: Arlington Banks is hired by Samuel Kane to be the new Senior Food Stylist at Kane Foods International. But Samuel has a hidden agenda. As teenagers, Arlie went to school with Samuel and his twin brother, Mason. Since Mason was after Arlie—who rejected Mason—back then, Samuel tries to put Arlie and his twin together so Mason broke their father’s cardinal rule: no company romances are allowed in Kane Foods International. And, in consequence, Mason would be fired from the company. What Samuel didn’t realized was that Arlie will never be Mason’s weakness, but his!

When they were teens, Samuel was in love with Arlie, but he was too shy to approach her back in the day. Arlie, on her part, was in love with Samuel. As soon as they reunite ten years later, sparks fly between them, igniting their mutual sexual attraction. And who do you think breaks the no company romances rule?

Only that their affair is the tip of the iceberg. This book, the first in The Kane Heirs series, has A LOT to deal. Secrets, rivalry, a insensitive patriarch, lies, betrayal, corporate espionage, blackmail… Do I have to continue?

Curiously, all those topics doesn’t overload the story. The romantic side of the book is always the center of all. Arlie and Samuel’s love is real and believable. Such an intense couple, their chemistry is off the charts. At the same time, we could see some tenderness between them. I really loved Arlie and Samuel, especially because their personalities match perfectly. One of those couples made in writing heaven.

Another thing that I liked about this book is the family dynamics. From Parker “the patriarch” Kane’s favoritism towards Mason over Samuel, creating some kind of subtle rift between the twins, to the ties between Parker and Arlie’s deceased mother, which adds more tension to the plot.

With a lot in hand, Ms. Aubin manages to create a balanced story with funny quotes and clever scenes that didn’t lose its intensity. A bit childish some specific scene (they aren’t eighteen anymore!), but my first book from this author—the first Harlequin Desire book for Ms. Aubin—was a great experience.

P.S.: I’m dying to read Mason’s story!!
