Mellie Winslow was pretty much on her own. Her father was alcoholic and her mother had died from cancer many years ago. She was strong though and owned her own business, which was about to thrive if she could land this one job. The new president of the Cattleman’s Club needed her and she was going to prove it.

Case Baxter had this thing about women; he didn’t want them in his house. Ever since his ex-wife took off he knew that women weren’t to be trusted, period. The problem was things were going to need to change now that he was the new President of the Cattleman’s Club. He really needed someone to clean his house and organize his life.

When Case and Mellie meet there is definitely attraction. The problem is neither is ready for a relationship and casual sex? Well that isn’t really on the playing field either, at least not at first. When Case’s trust issues start making their way to the forefront though will Mellie be able to overcome?

Ms. Maynard takes her readers back to Royal and the Texas Cattleman’s Club in this novel, which can be read as a stand-alone. She gives her readers a fast paced novel, which is a little unrealistic in terms of character development. That said she does such an amazing job in the relationship dynamics that the reader barely realizes the amount of time that has passed in terms of the development. This is a good read for anyone looking for a Cinderella story that proves love isn’t always easy and sometimes the man you love has baggage you still have to help him carry.
