Covet by Rosanna Leo is the second story in her sinfully sexy series set in Las Vegas. With a luxury hotel and casino as the background and two characters with their share of problems looking for some momentary relief, their one night stand becomes something more in this exciting and steamy romance.

Dana Hamill is having a rough day. She’s just gotten a doctor’s diagnosis of premature ovarian failure, a technical term for the reality of finding out she’ll never be able to have children. Barely a few minutes after hearing the news, her fiance breaks up with her. Needing to forget, she finds herself with a drink in hand at a bar, and meeting Alex, a man starting his life over again having recently moved to Vegas. A quickie hookup ensues, first names only, and then they go their separate ways.

Two months later, they meet again but this time their identities aren’t so hidden. Alex Markov is the new owner of Vice, the premier hotel on the Las Vegas strip and its nightclub Covet. Dana works for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Association as an account manager and planning a divorce party for her sister Anise, she’s picked Vice as the place to celebrate. Because of the change in ownership, Dana’s reservation has gotten misplaced and Alex comes to the rescue, giving her and her friends the penthouse suite and now an excuse for them to rekindle their ‘friendship’. One thing leads to another and Dana and Alex indulge in a steamy affair. But Dana worries that sharing her infertility diagnosis will be a deal breaker, and when events from Alex’s past start to threaten their safety, things become even more complicated. Can they find their way to a happy ending?

It’s not often that you read a romance where infertility is front and center but it’s an important and realistic discussion to have and a reminder that a happy ending in a romance doesn’t have to mean marriage and kids. Dana is a beautiful, curvy figured black woman, and Alex finds her as attractive as she finds the tall, blond, handsome man. Their chemistry from the start is clear since they can’t resist each other on first meeting, and when they encounter each other again, it’s not long before they put their attraction to the test again with some sexy love scenes. In the bedroom, Dana and Alex take turns calling the shots. Because she is partying it up with her sister and friends, there are a few instances where Dana overindulges and Alex becomes her protector but also abides by a gentleman’s rules to not take advantage of her inebriated state. It shows that no matter the rumors about him, he’s a good guy at heart.

Those rumors haunt Alex, and have followed him to Vegas. His previous girlfriend Shannon died accidentally while they were at a resort in the Caribbean, and some people speculate that he’s responsible. He feels incredibly guilty and ashamed about her death and that he wasn’t able to prevent it. The rift it caused between him and her family is vast, and has led to more than just ill feelings. Shannon’s brother is out for revenge and his stalkerish behavior becomes a key part of the second half of the story, resulting in some surprisingly action packed scenes. In Dana, Alex finds someone whom he can confide in and vice versa so that soon all their secrets have been revealed to each other. In doing so, they build the trust that helps them get their happy ending. I really enjoyed this story for its unique plot and sexy romance, and look forward to reading more from this new to me author!
