Crazy About a Cowboy by Dylann Crush is the third book in the Tying the Knot in Texas series. For those new to the series, the town used to be named Idont, but have changed the name to Ido. The mayor is determined to make Ido the top wedding destination in Texas, no matter how crazy the idea. In this book the mayor, Lacey, has recruited pecan farmer Jasper Taylor to show Miss Lovin’ Texas, Delilah Stone, around town in the hopes she will name Ido the most romantic town in Texas.
Jasper has nothing but time since a large portion of his family’s crop was destroyed, but the last thing he wants is to escort a pageant queen around. Delilah is ready to put her pageant days behind her. She just has to make this one trip to Ido to judge them as part of the competition then she’s done. What neither expects is for an attraction to develop between them. When unexpected discoveries happen that throw her past and Jasper’s present into question, will the truth be enough to make Delilah stick around, or will she head back to Dallas as she had planned?
If you haven’t read the previous two books, you can jump into the series here with no issues. Each book is a standalone in Ido’s efforts to become the number one wedding destination in Texas. While characters from the previous books make appearances in this one, you won’t feel like you’re missing anything if you start the series here.
Readers get to see things unfold from both Jasper’s and Delilah’s points of view. I enjoyed that, as it gives good insight as to what both characters are thinking and feeling. Out of the three books in the series, I will say that these two weren’t my favorite couple. My issues mainly lie with Delilah. She rushes to judgement too quickly, at one point not even giving Jasper a chance to explain something that happened. In that moment she assumes the worst about him, when everything up until that point had proved he wasn’t that type of person. Her actions had me questioning her feelings about him, which put a little bit of a damper on my feelings about not only their relationship, but Delilah overall. I also thought she should have put her foot down in regards to her mother, but she seems to let her steamroll over her own hopes and dreams. Maybe she felt she had to let her mother live vicariously through her when she was younger, but at this point she’s old enough to tell her mother what she wants out of her own life.
I liked most of Jasper’s family (with the exception of one brother), and I hope that they’ll get their own books. I especially liked Abby, Jasper’s teenage sister. She plays a bit of a matchmaker between the couple, and often comes across as older than her years.
“Be ready at five o’clock on Saturday. Wear something nice and leave the rest to me.” Abby got up and made her way to the front door. “By the way, I’m not just talking to Jasper. All of us are going. We’re a family. We’re all going to win her back together.”
Filled with romance, a couple plot twists, a meddling but well-meaning family, a mayor determined to win, and some humor, Crazy About a Cowboy is small-town romance with a lot of heart. While it wasn’t my favorite of the series due to some of the issues I had with Delilah, I still enjoyed it overall and would recommend it to fans of small-town romances.

The little town of Ido, Texas, is up against some big competition. With the state tourism department on a search for the most romantic town in Texas, Ido is pulling out all the stops to win the title. Leading the effort is the newly appointed hospitality host Jasper Taylor. If he can secure the honor for Ido, he’ll be able to hang onto his family’s land.
But when the reigning Miss Lovin’ Texas and celebrity judge, Delilah Stone, rolls into town, she isn’t exactly welcomed with open arms. Delilah’s ready to put her beauty queen days behind her, and the only thing standing in her way is spending the next thirty days in Ido. It should be an easy gig, but someone in town is tired of all of the recent publicity. Somehow everything that ought to go right is suddenly going wrong.
Now it’s up to Jasper to convince Delilah to give Ido another chance by showing her just how romantic the small town can be…without losing his own heart in the process.
