Crowned for the Drakon Legacy by Tara Pammi: Scandal, drama and an undeniable passion mark the first of the Drakon Royals series in Crowned for the Drakon Legacy. Mia Rodriguez, a female soccer star announcing her retirement is reeling from the news that her ex-husband, deceased in a tragic car accident a year earlier, had been having numerous affairs while they were married. Spiriting her away from the disastrous press conference is Nikandros Drakos, once the owner of the team where Mia had made her soccer debut, and a close friend of her ex-husband. Though they’ve always been at odds, Nik having sided with his friend over Mia in the divorce (unaware of his infidelity), in the close confines of Nik’s home the unmistakable attraction between them can’t be denied and leads to a passionate night together – with serious consequences when Mia discovers she’s pregnant.

Nik isn’t called the Daredevil Prince for nothing. Fast cars, daredevil stunts, numerous women – his reputation precedes him everywhere. But his family’s rule over the Mediterranean principality of Drakon means a duty and an obligation that he can no longer ignore, with the descent of his father into dementia and his brother Crown Prince Andreas needing Nik’s help to govern the country. And when he finds out that Mia is carrying his child, his whole future looks different. Bringing Mia to Drakon, he must convince her that marrying him is their only option, to provide stability for his country and his child. The passion between them is real. But is it enough to turn what was supposed to be a one night fling into a long lasting relationship?

I really enjoyed this dramatic and sexy romance. Having a female soccer star as the heroine was an interesting set up, though since she is retiring right at the start of the story we don’t get any on field scenes. Mia’s lived her life lately in the spotlight, and she’s horrified by the paparazzi swarming her in the wake of the news of her ex-husband’s infidelity. It’s the only thing that would make her take Nik up on his offer to give her somewhere private to recoup. Having had a crush on him since she was a teenager, she was careful to never admit these feelings while she was married and buried them well. But it all comes to the surface, and when she finds out Nik returns that attraction, the gloves are off. They share a very steamy night together. Once she’s off to Drakon, things between them are a bit more tempestuous before they succumb to that attraction once again but it’s worth the wait.

Nik’s character is great too. A childhood illness that kept him housebound is the catalyst for the way he lives his life now. His strained relationship with his family is a key part of the story, as is his desire to make up for his abandonment of them until now. The chance to have a family, to have a wife, to settle down – these become irresistible to Nik, as does the thought of having Mia by his side. They go through some rocky times where neither wants to admit their true feelings for each other, but they get their happy ending. And I loved the epilogue! If you are looking for passion and drama in a decadent Mediterranean setting, you’ll find it here. I look forward to reading more of this series!
