Festive Fling With The Surgeon by Karin Paine: Tasmin is a transplant surgeon who mainly works at the Great Southern Hospital in London. She can also work at the sister hospital, Great Northern Hospital in Edinburgh. She gets an urgent call from the Edinburgh hospital that her skills are needed for a transplant surgery on a young girl. She meets Max ,the pediatric surgeon, right before the surgery. The surgery is long and exhausting. Afterwards they end up having what they thinks will be a one night stand. After all Tasmin will be going back to London soon and Max is very commitment phobic. They realize their one night stand turns into a fling after they spend more time together.

As they get to know each other they slowly reveal more about their backgrounds. Tasmin became a transplant specialist after her sister suffered serious life-long issues after giving bone marrow so Tasmin could be cured from her blood disease. Max was raised mainly in a home for children. He is still close to the head of the home and does many special things for the children who live there. Can the two of them deal with their past baggage and find a way forward?

The book starts early on with a very hot scene. The reader will get both spicy and tender moments as the book progresses. The author has certainly done her research to make the hospital parts seem very authentic.
I liked Max the most. Yes, he was afraid of getting too close for more than a simple relationship. Overall, he was very sweet and kind in the way he treated Tasmin and the children in the care home.

I would have given this novel a higher rating, but the constant references to Tasmin’s sister and how Tasmin felt guilty about what had transpired, wore on my nerves after a while. I would have enjoyed more hospital talk or fun events Tasmin and Max could participate in.

I am probably an outlier in my rating. I have read other books by Karin Baine that I truly enjoyed and would be open to reading news in the future.

In the first installment of the Christmas North and South series, a transplant surgeon and paediatrician’s one night snowballs into a festive fling, and soon they’re faced with a choice — will their romance last beyond Christmas?

Wrapped up…in each other!

Transplant surgeon Tamsin is determined nobody will suffer the post-op complications her sister faced. She certainly doesn’t have capacity for romance. So, succumbing to passion on a visit to Edinburgh with handsome paediatrician Max is a one-night indulgence. Max has his own reasons for being anti-commitment, but when he and Tamsin are thrown back together again temporarily their snow-melting attraction leads to a whirlwind fling. Only, their feelings are deepening along with their desire. This festive season, will they be brave and embrace the gift in front of them?
