Fiancee for Hire (Front and Center #2) by Tawna Fenske should come with a warning label, “Book will cause uncontrollable laughter, snorting, and fits of giggles!”

FFHKelli’s crush on her best friend’s brother, Mac, has been unrequited for years, partly because he was oblivious to her attentions and partly because he prefers to distance himself from forming emotional attachments. When Mac’s sister recruits Kelli to help him out by being his “fake” fiancee he gets more than he bargained for. After years of not seeing each other, sparks fly between these two. But of course this is just a business deal for both of them. They both fear the unknown with real relationships so this is the best deal for both involved. What happens when both fight the feelings over-taking them?

I love these characters! Kelli Landers had me in stitches from the second she shot down a would-be suitor with little tact but plenty of dramatic flair. She comes across as a no-nonsense type of gal with absolutely no filter between her brain and her mouth, which is the total opposite of the quiet, demure woman MacArthur Patton expected. While Mac and Kelly are both vey strong and sometimes clashing personalities – Mac is more of the quiet and reserved kind, while Kelli is outspoken and forward – their characters also have an underlining vulnerability that had me more invested in the outcome of their journey. Whether they were joking around with each other or lost in the throes of passion, Mac and Kelly shared an undeniable connection that is the heart of the narrative.

Now that I have read Fiancee for Hire, I want to go back and read the first book in Tawna Fenske’s Front and Center series, Marine for Hire. To put it quite simply, Fiancée for Hire is a fun read that will keep you rolling until the very end. I have this story 5 firey stars.

A satisfying category romance from Entangled’s brand new Lovestruck imprint…

Former Marine MacArthur Patton has made a small fortune on top-secret government contracts and black-ops missions, but his new assignment involves something more dangerous—marriage.

Well, fake marriage anyway.

To keep weapons out of the hands of terrorists, Mac has to secure a fiancée. A sweet, demure, compliant fiancée to serve as his arm candy for a few weeks while he completes the covert arms deal in Mexico. His sister claims to know just the woman, and sends her best friend to play the role.

“Sweet” and “demure” aren’t in Kelli Landers’s repertoire. A badass veterinarian who neuters big dogs and bigger men on a regular basis, she can’t wait to bring Mr. Tall-Dark-and-Detached to his knees. Her longtime crush on the commitment-phobe makes her plan to seduce him even sweeter.

Love wasn’t part of the plan, but the deeper Mac and Kelli fall into their ruse, the more danger they attract, until more than just their hearts are on the line…

I bought this because I loved the characters when they were introduced in the first book. I’m glad to see I have another great read to look forward to, Jen. 😀
