Finding Mr. Right in Florence by Kate Hardy: Sometimes two people who have been wronged just can’t figure out being right.
Mariana Thackeray knew she was damaged. There wasn’t any way around it, it’s not that she was less or that something was wrong with her but she knew she was always going to have baggage. The only thing she wasn’t sure of was how that would continue to affect her. She had no idea about that to say the very least so for now it was time to focus on her schooling, her job and her passion – art.
Angelo Beresford knew he wasn’t whole. That had been made very clear to him thanks to his ex wife. He was going to keep focusing on his grandfather and his family though. They were people he could count on. When he found out the one thing that would make his grandfather incredibly happy during his last days he was going to do whatever he could to make it happen.
Mariana and Angelo are focused on one common goal – find the background of the painting. However someone forgot to mention that to their hormones… Will they allow themselves one night? If they do will it only be one night?
This was a slower novel than most. Two very damaged humans who take a while to realize just how much the damage that was afflicted on them really affected them. They were written really well though and while some of the details are just drawn out, they were at least interesting mainly. The overall feeling on this one is that it could have used some editing or at least some pairing down but the basic story is good and relatable.
