REVIEW: Finn by Melody Anne

Posted September 27th, 2019 by in Blog, Contemporary Romance, Review / 3 comments

In Finn by Melody Anne, former Navy SEAL Finn Anderson and his four brothers discover that they are related to billionaire Joseph Anderson. Joseph didn’t know about the brothers until his sister-in-law was on her deathbed. Now, he’s determined to bring the five men into the family fold by getting them all to work on a new center for veterans.

Brooke Garrison is a physician’s assistant and former military, whose brother was killed in action. The loss has brought her down, and she doesn’t know if she can let anyone in. Once Finn meets her, though, he knows she’s the one. Now he’s out to prove to her that her brother would want her to be happy, and he can be the man to do it. But can he find it in himself to put his distrust of father figures aside and fully accept Joseph and the other Anderson’s into his life?

This is a bit of insta-love, at least from Finn’s side. Normally I don’t enjoy that, but I think it balances out because it’s not insta-love from Brooke’s side. Because of that, they get to know each other more than they would have it was insta-love from both sides. Both are dealing with the loss of someone important to them, and they help each other heal.

Finn didn’t have a good relationship with his father, however, I’m not sure that was a good enough reason to be so hesitant to let Joseph into his life. He seemed to let all the other Anderson’s into his life, along with Brooke, quite easily, yet he holds out with Joseph. I did like how Joseph never pushes him though. He gives Finn the space he needs to work it out on his own, all while continuing his matchmaking ways with Finn and Brooke.

I liked how close the brothers are and enjoyed their playful banter. I’m looking forward to reading each of their stories, and to seeing how the veteran’s center finally turns out.

Finn is a heartfelt story about loss, love, and family discovery. It’s a good start to the series and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Finn Anderson is a loyal military veteran who has no desire to live a life of luxury and ease, but sometimes a person doesn’t get a choice. His life is flipped upside down when he and his four brothers learn they’re long-lost relatives of the absurdly famous and wealthy Joseph Anderson. The eccentric but generous billionaire puts the brothers to work building a new veterans center, and that’s not all: Joseph won’t stop until each nephew finds love.

Finn has never expected or wanted an easy life, and he struggles with his early retirement from the elite SEAL team. But when a very confident Brooke Garrison literally sweeps him off his feet during a self-defense class he’s teaching, he thinks less about his past and more about a brand-new future.

If Finn knows anything for certain, it’s that he can’t let this woman get away. Though Brooke is tough and compassionate, the loss of her brother has left her vulnerable. She isn’t sure she can risk loving and losing another person in her life, including a very determined ex-SEAL. Can the two of them look beyond their past wounds and embrace what they’re feeling?
