REVIEW: Fling With the Doc Next Door by Alison Roberts

Fling With the Doc Next Door by Alison Roberts: Ella travels place to place working as an OBGYN doctor. She’s from Australia originally, but enjoys all the lovely locales she gets to live and work in for six months at a time. Her latest assignment is in Scotland.

Ella certainly gets thrown into the action right away after a very intense first case. She’s been given a small apartment near the hospital. She’s tired and hungry when she finds she’s been locked out of her living quarters. Luckily for her Logan, who she has just worked with, is her neighbor and gives her a place to stay the night until everything can be sorted in the morning.

Logan is perfect as a doctor with his cases. He is a bit overbearing and gives off the ‘cold pricklies” a good bit to other staff. Ella’s only around for a short time and Logan has built a moat around his heart. Can the two have a short fling and leave it at that?

I liked both main characters a lot. Ella has her own drive that keeps her moving all the time. You can see that as a need for adventure or a fear of getting too close. Logan is a widower who carries a steamer trunk full of baggage. He protects himself. He can show great care for his patients although he doesn’t want to get too close to them either. Ella shows great compassion while she connects on a deeper level with each patient.
Alison Roberts has written a powerful novel with authentic medical details and relatable characters and situations. Medical romances can touch readers on a deeper emotional level. I look forward to future books by this talented author.
