Forbidden to the Powerful Greek by Carol Marinelli is an entertaining work place romance and second instalment to the Cinderella’s of Convenience mini series.

When old friends Galen and Roula meet again at the wedding of Galen’s best friend Costa (and hero of the first instalment, The Greek’s Cinderella Deal) Galen makes a pass. Roula turns down the opportunity to answer her dreams of Galen, but nonetheless she rejects him. When the intricate plot reveals itself, all is not as it seems on the outside of widowed Roula’s life. One of the many other things on Galen’s mind is the requirement to temporarily replace his P.A. Doing it more as a favour for Costa (no plot spoilers) he offers the position to Roula. She throws caution to the wind and accepts which means leaving their childhood island and temporarily stepping into Galen’s glamorous world.

I really liked how the plot in book 1 was infused into book 2 but it was written so cleverly you wouldn’t miss not reading book 1 (but please do, it was my favourite). I really liked how Galen is different to the usual Presents Hero’s. He ticks the brief but has extra facets that make him interesting. I found his quirks interesting. Roula deserved a happy ever after and I liked the quite but brave way she went about life. She was herself and as the book pages grew in numbers so did her confidence. The attraction was clear and I enjoyed Galen and Roula’s road to happy ever after.

A lovely story with a bit of drama and mystery, I thought it had a great plot which really held my attention and interesting characters who had more layers to them than normal.
