In Forever in Cape May by Jennifer Probst, Taylor Sunshine and Pierce Powers have been best friends since childhood and always agreed to keep it that way. Taylor has no desire for marriage or a family, while Pierce has always dreamed of having that. Besides, Taylor has plans to study and sell art in Paris, while Pierce is determined to stay in Cape May with his photography business.
One drunken night changes all the rules, and they make a pact to enjoy each other until Taylor has to leave, then return to being friends. But will it be that easy? Or will the pair discover that dreams can change and what they’ve both always wanted has always been right in front of them?
I loved Pierce. He’s willing to make changes in his life when he feels they are needed. He also has no problems with expressing his emotions and what he wants. It took a bit longer to warm up to Taylor, and I never cared for her character as much as I did Pierce. At times she’s overly stubborn, to the point she sometimes becomes irritating. She has a hard time recognizing what’s right in front of her, and she doesn’t seem to like to let anyone in. She has no problem dishing out advice to her sisters, yet when she needs someone to turn to, she’s reluctant to confide in and accept help from them. She’s also a bit selfish, making decisions about things that concern Pierce’s future without letting him have a say in it. She’s definitely not my favorite of the Sunshine sisters.
This is the third book in the series, and Taylor is the last of the Sunshine sisters to find love. This book does work as a standalone. If you decided to jump into the series with this one, you won’t feel like you’re missing anything from not having read the others.
I felt there was nothing in this book that really made it stand out from any other friends-to-lovers books that I have read. Despite that, I thought it was an enjoyable sweet romance with a little drama thrown in to push the story forward. If you like small-town, friends-to-lovers stories, Forever in Cape is worth the read.
QOTD: What do you enjoy the most about the friends-to-lovers trope? If you don’t enjoy it, why not?

Taylor Sunshine and Pierce Powers vowed to keep things platonic. They already have the best of each other: loyalty, friendship, and trust. Why ruin the perfect relationship? That kind of forever love isn’t in the picture anyway for a restless, aspiring artist like Taylor. Her sights are set beyond the horizon of Cape May and Sunshine Bridal.
The oceanfront hometown is part of Pierce’s heart—just like Taylor is. And it breaks at the thought of her leaving. As her closest friend since high school, he supports her desires, even if she must follow them away from Cape May. But when their defenses are down, all it takes is one impulsive, vulnerable night to change all the rules.
From old friends to overnight lovers, they make a new pact: explore a summer fling, no strings attached. But as the nights heat up and their connection grows deeper, hard choices must be faced. As summer nears its end, will Taylor and Pierce fulfill their individual dreams? Or are new dreams just beginning to come true?

Totally agree with your review. I found that the men in this series were much more likable than the women.
Stacey
I definitely agree with that!
